Lost learner FOB
Hi
I have a year 2000 car and have one key with a pretty poor condition two button alarm thing. I know I can get a new plastic box on ebay for this but also want another one as a spare.
Called my local Honda dealer in Scotland and they said with no red learner FOB I would need a new circuit board. Price quoted about £360.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any ideas how I can get round this or an alternative
Thanks all

I thought the S2000 didn't come with an alarm other than as a dealer option? Meaning, wouldn't the alarm replacement be for a name brand product like a Viper? Many decent alarms can have their FOBs replaced with genuine parts. You will typically need the be familiar with the learning process of the product. Find out what alarm you have. Was is something unique to Honda's in Scotland?
They keys can be copied in lots of places, not sure if MY00 was particularly difficult but I've seen prices from $45-$145 if memory serves.

Hi
Yes the alarm is Honda cat1 alarm. I have one fob with two buttons and it's pretty wrecked. I can sometimes have the key in and turned and press the button a few times on the alarm fob before it lets the indicator lights flash and allow the engine start bottom to work. I want to replace this and get a spare one and apparently without a red learner fob they need to replace as I mentioned before.
Any ideas????
Cheers

Unfortunately, you need another chip to put in another shell to have another key fob. I believe you can only get those at Honda. You might try to find a programmable one and see if you can find the directions on how to program the key fob to the car. I think there are a few threads on that somewhere on this site.
