Im running CDT eurosports, i have already moved up my cross over point on the sub up to 80 hz with a 12 db roll off , it sounds great now. The only concern I had was having the gains set so high for the sub, but since the sub is not clipping or distorting and the amp doesnt seem to be running too hot, i will leave it as is. Pictures to come on monday.
pikkashoe, i just installed the same amp in my friend's s2k and we are having the same problem. We're running active (Front channels for tweeters and rear for midrange) and it doesn't get too loud (my JBL 60x4 gets much louder). If I find something out, i'll let you know.
I never really had a problem with my front channels on the amp, only the sub, its weird how the gains work from -4 to .2, I did not get that, but im running my front gain at 1.3 and the rear gain at .4. It seems to be working fine, i ran the system with pretty high levels yesterday for about one hour to see if anything would over heat and shut down, and the amp only got up to 122 degrees. My system is a bit different , im running a passive cross over network. which input selector did you choose. My set up is running perfectly right now, no problems. I think next time if I have a choice, I will go with a sound stream. Let me know if you figure out anything on the amp Gsteg. Hey one quick question, can you get the amp to run the scan function, which changes the display every 5 seconds between, temperature and voltage, i cant get mine to do that.
UPDATED REVIEW
****************
Ok after several days of playing with the sub and settings, I have finally dialed it in. So here we go.
Once again the sub is very precise and tight, very very quick, keeps up with Trance music, the alpha was never able to dish out the notes that quickly. There are some bass lines in some songs that sounded like one long note before, now they are separated. Now I see why everyone say's this amp is great for SQ.
After setting the correct cross over point for this sub, now I can really fell the bass. Initially I complained that it had very little out put, but I was using too low of a cross over point. This sub hits hard, but it does not play too low. Like my first assessment, the Alpha does play lower, but what you give up in low end extension, you gain back in accuracy and crispness. I cant recall, but the Lotus in the higher frequencies might hit harder, you can feel the music more.
In regards to the actual physical subs, the alpha felt heavier and had a much bigger magnet, and was built like a tank. The kevlar cone was a plus, as the Lotus has an aluminum cone which unfortunately I have already dinged, a screw driver fell on it =(.
Over all I am very satisfied with the Lotus sub. Was it worth the $100 more for it, it all depends on the style of music you listen to. For me I think it was worth it, its very accurate and tight, and has very fast response. Very very natural sounding. Its blends in with the rest of the music.
Once I get my speaker grille in, I will post pics of the completed set up.
I still want to throw some sort of lights to illuminate the trunk and sub when I open the trunk. Thats my next project, some LED LIGHTS. Any idea's?
Glad everything worked out for you Alfredo! You are getting EXACTLY what I promised. SQ subs are "quicker" to respond than something like the alpha, but you lose a little bit of excursion...(remember the Alpha surround was 2"....that bad boy moved some air)
Sounds to me like you are happy. Hopefully, it will bring you miles of listening pleasure!
As for lighting....I need to see a pic of the entire install......so we can all pitch in our $4.53.
Im quite amazed, i really thought I would not notice a difference, and basically paid $100 more for nothing, but the difference is there. You said it perfect, you trade in your lower excursion, to get the better response, its more musical and personally I like it better.
The alpha is still a bad boy, i never had any regrets with that sub. That thing did have that monster 2 inch surround, almost dented my trunk from the inside. Let me go snap some pics of the install so you guys can throw in your $4.53.
Im leaning to just a strip of leds mounted above the amp from the roof shining down, and hooked up to trunk light.

Thats soooooooooo pase'
We'll figure out something proper.....
Now you know why I praise certain subs. Everyone always asks me why I love the DVQ Infinity so much.....basically, in my eyes, its the perfect balance between the SEAS and the ALPHA. To me, a sub has to be in the middle of the two...SQ, and POWER. A Kicker to me is all power. It hits, but not clean. Anyway....
