Default Lucid rear speaker system

Has anyone installed or heard Lucid's Kenwood 3-way speaker system?

I have Lucid's 5.25 3ways in the back and they sound great. Made a huge difference.

question for lucid. i noticed on your site that the tweeters in the 02 models were run off seperate channels than the other door speakers. does that mean that the oem stereo has no channels left for a rear speaker install? with the extra 30 watts, will the oem have enough juice for the six speakers?

ty

ps - i've been trying to find the specs for the 02 oem stereo and speakers and have been unsuccessful. i would appreciate any help you can provide as this is my next project. here is the first project

Sounds great to me. I've had two of Lucid's real panels, first the 4s now the new Kenwood 5 1/4 3 ways.

I just wish he would find some component speakers that fit in the front doors, so I could order those!

The 2002 Radio has 4 speakers driven on the front channels. The rear channels are unused so you really benefit with an 02 radio adding the rears.

Don't think of the 02 radio as having component speakers. Think of them as "convertibles." Jensen for example makes a line of these (woofer with a removable tweeter for placement elsewhere).

I know there are a few component sets that would work well with the 2002 and are rated for lower power for example the Polk EX2550 5.25". MOST sets are better suited to a new head unit or better an amp.

I just recently installed these in my MY02 S and overall the sound is fantastic. I am working out some install bugs, but the speakers are excellent. Good range and very clear, even with the stock deck.

Also, Lucid's customer service is excellent if you run into any problems it is nice to have someone who backs up their products.

If you have more specific questions e-mail or PM me.

whelp, just ordered the kenwood rear panels. can't wait to see how they sound. i guess an amp, subwoofer and some new door speakers will be soon to follow.

is there really much benefit to replacing the oem head unit if i get a new amp? the 02 seems to be a fairly decent unit and i would rather not have to mess with a unit that may not be as compatible with the remotes.
