I searched hi and lo and could not find any info prohibiting this device in any state.

Here of the pics showing how it is installed:

White wire to positive (+) terminal, black to negative (-). Make sure you also respect the harness and light side notations on the PCB.

click image to get to the full size version.

Then I just covered with some tape and plugged it back in. Will throw some heat-shrink on it when I get time.

this website sells an universal one for $35 with a delay repeat feature

http://www.webelectricproducts.com/products.htm

The "Delay-Repeat" circuit means the brake lights have to be off for at least 15 seconds before the cycle can be restarted. So, if you are in bumper-to-bumper traffic, the brake light isn't always pulsing
The "delay / repeat" feature sounds like a bad idea to me. It's those stop-n-go situations where most people get rear-ended.

I'm not 1--% sure of the source, but once I was told the Feds mandated the blinking HMSL as a safety device, but after two years they had enough data indicating it caused accidents by other drivers being distracted by the blinking that they discontinued the requirement for the blinkers. The guy telling me this said they never made them illegal, just ended the mandate.

Hmmm.....you might be right about that delay, modifry now that I give it more thought. I first ordered then as an after-thought wrote to the company WPS posted and asked if the delay can be bypassed if desired. He said no, though he can make one without the feature. So I'm trying either way to change to the the non-delay version.

i like the delay idea but i went with the signalz4u since it was the cheapest with 20 shipped. post vid/install when it comes in.

***********
EDIT: the signalz4u uses a relay to make it blink. 3 slow "clicking" blinks then a solid.

my opinion.. go for the gomini one. faster blink and no noise is worth any extra money.
i'll see if i can return it

vid link to signalz4u

***********
UPDATE: seem to be ignoring my question about return policy. very unprofessional.

if anyone is interested in purchasing my signalz4u PM me. 15 shipped. practically new.

Rats! Haste makes waste. http://www.webelectricproducts.com/products.htm
is going to make a unit for me without the delay, but I could have saved $15. That's a case of Guiness.

I drove the car yesterday to work. Noted that in the rush hour traffic coming home people seemed to stay a bit further off my ass in the stop and go traffic.

If anything I think it reminds them that there is actually a car in front of them. Or perhaps they stay back a bit because it is annoying them

Whatever works - already been through a rear end collision repair in my S2000 and do not fancy doing it again.

Over $14k in damage - fortunately I had un-insured/under-insured coverage because the guy that hit me was an undocumented illegal with no license, no insurance and no tags on the car. He was also back in Mexico the next afternoon by the time my insurance company visited the address he listed on the accident report.

Just installed my unit from webelectricproducts.com and the whole thing took only a few minutes and works great. The unit I got was more expensive at $35 which covered the $5 express shipping but it looks much more solid and durable than the others I've seen online. It's in a solid and sealed rubberized housing with 3 wires coming out of it. Service was great and they answered my questions almost instantly via e-mail. I'd highly recommend them. I'll post pics if anyone is interested.

Let me get my 2 cents in on this since I'm also a motorcycle rider and this "technique" is common on bikes and I have yet to ever get pulled over for it.

Basically the idea is to grab the other guys attention behind you and on a motorcycle this is more critical since the red light is so small and you do NOT want to get hit from behind on a bike.

I would say on a car it would be extremely annoying but yes it does get people's attention. Doing this mod is quite easy and only requires the flasher module to be splice inline with the third brake light wires. Whether it's legal would depend on local ordinances.

This is the one reason I did not get the BYS spoiler since I want that third brake light. IMO it's quite noticeable already when lit but like another guy said I also pay attention when driving...haha

**Just FYI but on a motorcycle it's also common practice to "pulse" the headlights between bring/dim on one bulb to grab attention from oncoming drivers. This is ok for motorcycles but would be annoying for cars....see my point?
