met PJK3, and PAS2KNUT
NFR: Mane got lost on the way to the Dragon. Other wise he would have insisted on tuning my system.
Bass, The JVC with the screen, hmm. keep us posted.
whoa. BACK UP.... PJK3: Diana Krall? on the Dargon? are you serious?
how slow were you going?
I had FC Kahuna & the Faint pumping through my system. kept me moving if you know what i mean.

well, i'm looking for an Alpine deck w/ the 5 band parametric EQ and the multi-point crossover, w/ separate crossovers for front, rear, and sub... (not the 3 point) also, must have 4 V preamp outs.
the cool little bio display is a 2ndary concern. so, that makes the 9835, 9833 optimal choices...
Mike -- what HU's do you have on hand?
i did have a nice little fund set aside for something like a 9835, but after winning the gift certificate for $150 to Rick's, i'm going to be spending more than i should and be getting a Comptech CAI from Rick.
the 9835 might have to wait a little bit... it would depend on the price i guess, as i don't anticipate getting anything in return for my 7894. it might even end up in the Ody, as the 9827 in there has nothing for tuneability.
Steve, if you're seriously thinking of selling -- let me know. i've suddenly found i have $150 cash on hand that i had planned to spend elsewhere...
Willie -- yup, Diana Krall. me? as a personal 'thing', i just LOVE putting in counterpoint music for most events... intense driving? mellow jazz, classical, or even opera. i even thought heavily about some Natalie Merchant or Adam Again, but had just spent the night before listening to her...
and i had regretfully forgotten my Mozart and Chopin at home. i find that it makes for a very surreal atmosphere...
how fast was i going? as fast as i could safely manage... (which i assure you was pretty brisk given the rain.)
it's a habit i started back when Doom hit the PC in the 90's. Doom had a built in soundtrack, but i'd turn it off and used to throw in Mozart's Requiem Mass and/or Mozart's Mass in C-minor on in the background. nothing like the sound of a chaingun or rocketlauncher and screaming demons to counterpoint a good choral mass.

Keith...
i would have happily done it. bummer... as i had plenty of time on several occasions...
(oh, and i'm glad that punk Mane didn't show his face.... jeez, talk about ruin a good weekend...)

ooo... good point. SESM is just right around the corner. i'm not sure if Audra would make it, but we were talking about me going. at this time though, some things are changing here w/ regards to my contract, so i may or may not have vacation available by then...
ack! a 9855? bummer. i spent about an hour playing w/ one just a couple weeks ago... i probably knew that one better than the 9833 (Bill's) we were tinkering with... just from having used it much more recently. i probably hadn't played w/ a 9833 in at least 6 months...
i will say this much -- the 9855 isn't the friendliest deck i've run into... it has a TON of options and tunability, but some of the menus are fantastically difficult to get to... me, the sales guy (very sharp), and the lead installer spent quite a while, just figuring out how to get to the parametric EQ on the 9855.
imo, the slider thing is sometimes more of a hinderance than a help... but, for IPOD use, etc? i see how it could be helpful for access. for everything else? heh.... so so.

I think the slider takes A LOT of getting used to. It works great for going through a ton of songs on an MP3 CD, but its prefer something else for menu stuff.
I'm getting better though. It definately needs some practice.
