Default Metallic tint setting off radar?

I have a X50 and its been great for the last couple years. Recently the lasar warning has been going off randomly all the time no matter where I go. The only change that I know of is that my whole car including windshield was tinted a 50% metallic tint. Is it possible that the tint is effecting the radar? I also tried another X50, same thing. BTW, it happens top up or down.

You reduced the light transmission through your windshield by half?

That's not a laser alarm, that's a stupid alarm. HPH

I have heard of some CD/DVD players being able to set off laser alarms in some cars - may be related to metallic tint if it is reflective.

Sure you have not just been running into a lot of Infinitys on the road? Every time I get a laser alert I look around and most always find an Infinity lurking about. Their active cruise control really pisses me off.

I drove 300 miles yesterday and the radar still picked up cops hiding off the side of the road a good mile or so down the road. Never even thought twice about the tint reducing the radar. V1 will be the same. Time for a K40 calibre I guess.

i'm with William... it could be your DVD or CD player.

try turning it off (not just listening to radio, completely off) for a while and see if you continue to get the falsing.

For many years Cincinnati Microwave warned about problems with Fords and Escort Detectors. Their windshields had a metalic [copper?] coating.

Although you are all correct (CD players, etc *could* set it off)....since you live in NJ, you are probably in the same boat as I am.....a victim of

Laser Cruise control on the new cars. I have A LOT more falses for laser ever since that option became popular and widely available. I would put my money on this.

Well if you had a cd/dvd deck with touchscreen capabilities, that could be your culprit.

Ever since I put my Eclipse double din deck in, I had to relocate my V-1 since it was picking up the electrostatic field on my touchscreen radio.

Never heard of tint affecting radar especially laser.

Try turning your radio off perhaps?
