Default Mirror Tap

Im replacing my V1/Gen1 with a Gen 2. I want to use one of blend mounts mirror taps.
Im guessing we can go into the overhead lights. Anyone done this with one their mounts
and the tap ? If yes, what size of tap did you use ? Im not sure what to order.

It's very easy to run the V1 direct-connect phone wire from the fusebox area under the dash, up through
the A-pillar trim and through the windshield trim, exiting near the mirror. The benefits of this are:
  • you aren't tapping any factory wiring
  • if you want to use V1 accessories such as a concealed display, you can connect it under the dash
Here's a writeup; there are others out there too.

Yes, i did that for the Gen 1 and i may have to do it again. I'll do some more checking.
I would like to keep this as simple as possible

I guess I'm a little confused then - you've removed your existing hardwiring or don't want to reuse it?

I dont want to reuse it. Would rather go with a tap, and what i have it only reaches to the sun visor
i didnt, have a blend mount in the S2000 with the gen 1. Im getting the mount with the Gen 2, so i thought
i would try the mirror tap in the lights.

Fair enough! I have a hardwired Gen 1, was thinking of upgrading too, and believed I didn't have to rewire, but
your post made me wonder if there were complications I wasn't aware of.

I talked to V1 they said there are no issues using the Gen1 hardwire.
So after taking the lens off the lights its going to be way easier
to use the existing hardwire. Im thinking i got enough slack behind
the trim to reach.
