Wow! I didn't realize when I posted in one of your other threads that you had a seperate thread devoted to your amp rack. I'm thinking HARD about buying the same amp and would like to mount it in the same area.
One question about your install. Do you think if you had not removed the plastic soft top tray that the amp would still fit there?

No problem Mikey - too many threads out there
Well the biggest determining factor when building amp racks over the gas tank I found out is thickness of the wood board and also how you mount it to the car.
I ended up using 1/2" MDF wood with a pattern I traced out of cardboard. I tried to flatten it as much as I could to keep the height to a minimum but I think the amp would just barely hit the tray if I left it in place. One thing to keep in mind is that if you do have the tray, it will be VERY hard to squeeze that amp in while the tray cover is on there. I guess you could remove it and then reinstall it but we all know how hard that is!
Probably to clear the plastic tray you would need to make the amp rack out of thick gauge sheet metal. That would give you the extra 1/4" to clear the plastic tub.
I still don't see why most people keep that tray cover in the car - once the amp is sitting there, just create a small cover for it using wood and line it in felt liner. On the opposite site, create a small "rail" to support the glass window and then you're done.
My g/f loves the fact she can thrown stuff over her seat direction into the spare tire trunk section! It's like having a 3rd secret compartment

I just came across a review on Car Audio & Electronics magazine's website. It's a review of the PDX 4.150 amp featured in this thread. I'm personally giving serious thought to purchasing this amp due to it's high power and small size. So probably others are considering it as well since the S2K already has limited space.
Nice install... saw the initial pics from other thread.
The PDX will drop into the area above the gas tank behind the gas pipe... without removing the soft-top tray. Would be a really tight fit... and pain to get out. Might work if you can create guides for a half inch MDF to slide in and drop down behind the pipe. I was originally thinking amp rack adjacent to soft-top tray, amp mounted upside down...
Not sure about cooling for the amp though... if its fan forced air, mounting the amp upside down might be okay.

I thought you were asking if my friend had a shop.
About the PDX amp, there is no fans so I'm guessing it's strictly heatsinks utilizing the entire chassis similiar to the JL amps.
The amp is secured to the floorboard/wood using 4 long screws that HAVE to be acessed from top after removing those 4 round bezels on the corners. I don't see how you can mount it in the trunk if you don't make the amp board modular meaning secure the amp to the board, then slide the board into the trunk space. Otherwise you won't have access to the top of the amp especially if you keep that plastic tub piece.
