Thumbs up Mounting amp under seat

I'm planning on getting an Alpine PDX-5 amp according to alpine the dimensions are (WxHxD): 10-1/8'' x 2-13/32'' x 7-35/64''. Does anyone know how much clearance there is under the seat? I have an amp mounted behind the passenger seat right now but I want a cleaner install without sacrificing any trunk space or losing my spare tire.

You can always put it on top of the fuel tank, which means you don't lose any seat travel or boot (trunk) space.

Something similar to this will work.

your seats are VERY low and mounting an amp under there is near impossible. Even if you want to put it behind a seat you will lost a lot of travel out of your seat. I took my spare tire out and mounted it there but you have to take your spare out.

I might try that location in the trunk is there enough ventilation there though? Dont want the amp overheating.

Either that or behind the drivers seat b/c I'm short anyway so my seat is never all the way back. I really don't want to take out my spare tire, I have bad luck so soon as I do that I'll be on the side of the road with a flat.

i have one of my amps under the front seat, i don't have measurements on there, try to find someone with the same amp and ask them if it fits under there

i heard mounting behind seats doesn't affect seat travel

I have a Genesis Profile Two amp under my passenger seat (this would be your drivers seat) and it fits fine, and has never overheated.

Simply fitted in place with heavy duty Velcro it is easy to remove for adjustments and then just stick it down again.

Size is 240 x 38 x 217mm.

I have the JL HD 600/4 amp mounted under my driver's seat. It is thin enough where there are no clearance issue whatsoever. I can move the seat all around if I wanted to. If it wasn't bolted down, it would slide around bc it clears the seat with room to spare.

I really don't think you can do it under the passenger seat because of the way the floor is setup.

I know the JL amp is $$$ but I bought it specifically so it can put out a lot of power and clear the seat without an issue. Both of which it does VERY well.

Unfortunately I'm looking for a 5 channel amp so my options are kinda limited w/o spending a ton of money. Oh well worst case I mount it behind the drivers seat or hidden in the trunk.

You'll be fine on top of the fuel tank. The PDX (as it's a "digital" amp) won't get too hot and I've not had any problems with my amps mounted there, although if you live somewhere hot (unlike England) there might be a problem.

There's actually quite a bit of airflow thorough that area so Im sure it'll be fine. Do a search for gas tank amps, and you'll see lots of successful installations.
