Default Music Cutting Out

Hello, I have had my current setup for almost a year now and up until a couple weeks ago, it had been running flawlessly. Lately though, I noticed that while I'm driving and even at a stop, the music will cut out, and then come back on after a second or so. This is regardless of whether it's the radio, or off of my iPod. I notice that my head unit stays on the entire time, so it doesn't appear that it has a loose power connection there. I haven't been able to confirm if it's the amp in the trunk, because when I'm parked in my garage after returning from a drive, it won't do it.

My setup is:

Kenwood KDC-BT742U 50x4 w/ front USB & Aux Connect
Kenwood KAC-7204 70x2 Amp
Infinity 6030CS Component Speakers

The amp is mounted in the trunk on the deck to the left of the spare-tool/recessed area.

Thanks in advance for any help guys.

sounds like amp is cutting out... possible short in your amp lead or grounding problems.

I followed both of your advice. The amp isn't over heating. I checked the wiring and it appeared that the bold holding the ground wire had become loose just from driving over the past year. Tightened it back down and it works like a champ. Thanks for the help guys

You guys were wonderful, and once again, I appreciated it.

If you strip away the lining in the trunk, to the left of where the spare tire, there is a bolt that they used to secure the grounding wire when they installed my amp. I guess over the year of pot-holes and other road abnormalities, the bolt loosened a little.

At any rate, I'll be sure to check on that bolt from time to time now that I know that it's secured that way.

Never crossed my mind, but you're right. Some Loc-tite blue next time I go up to my parent's place and can use some tools with room to work.

Thanks again guys and Merry Christmas!
