My Focal Install
How much did you end up paying for the Focals if you don't mind me asking? I wonder because they are like $600 or so at SonixEs. I am looking at something more in the $250 range or so.
Do you know how to Dynamat or are you going to have someone do it for you?

It was nowhere near $250 but less than $600... sorry, I called in a favor so can't be too specific. Sonix price seems pretty good to me, though. I think the Polk (dBs???) have been good to folks here, not sure how much they are. I wanted a little more oomf and went w/ Focal.
I'll be learning Dynamat the hard way... blood, sweat and beers. I have some friends that used to do car audio back when they had hair, so I'll probably ask them for some tips. And borrow a heat gun. I got the Xtreme door kit with a free roller for like $58 on ebay. Seems to be legit, although I've not opened the box yet. Could be wet newspapers

E, please take some pics of the dynamat install and let us know how it goes. I REALLY want to do my doors because so many people have said doing that and the trunk area makes a world of difference. I wasn't going to do the trunk, but the doors are a must for me. Glad you got a smoking deal on those Focals. I am just keeping my eyes peeled. I have to buy 1 toy at a time, and I am in the process of purchasing a Springfield Arms XD .40 Subcompact pistol as my CC weapon.
Also, that amp rack looks great. I know I have enough RCA cable and power as well to get there, the only thing I would be worried about is speaker wire and making sure I can mount the crossovers same place you did yours.
Philbert, I haven't found ANYWHERE with anything to look at, but I am not gonna lie, right now I am working 65 hours a week and don't have time to do much else other than sleep and get to the gym occasionally. I was going off the review of the Pioneers that was posted, and also was still thinking about the Infinity Kappa 6.1s. I have had A LOT of success with Infinity in the past. I had an Escort with a Alpine HU and some nice Kappa 6x9s in the rear panel and everyone thought I had a 8" or 10" sub.
Sorry to hijack the thread E!

Might be a while on the Dynamat, but I'll be sure to post pics here when it's done.
Another random tidbit... when using the SCV feature of the Modifry DCI, the Alpine kicks you out of the menu when the volume changes. So if you're like me and typically "surf" your iPod library while cruising around that might be a problem. Ex: you spend 15 seconds nav'ing thru to find that Radiohead track and as you finally get to the album you want, you hit a stop sign. No problem, you slow down... only to find that the Alpine is at the regular screen (since the volume changed) Then you have to nav thru everything again.
Of course you could set one of the two SCV presets to zero to avoid this (switch to that one before "surfing"), but I like having two settings for top up/dn driving. Takes a little getting used to. Gotta learn to not surf, just pick a playlist - or do away w/ the "top up" preset I use...
I know it's an Alpine issue, not the DCI, so it's not a slam against Bob. He's great and the product works wonders!
