Yeah you won't need a cap. If you start to push 1300-1500 watts with heavy bass you'll need one. But before you do that buy an Optima battery first.

It looks like I will be putting out 1500W.

150W x4 Fronts = 600W
150W x2 Rears = 300W
600W x1 Sub = 600W

That should be RMS, but I still doubt that a cap would help considerably. Your ears couldn't stand the volume required to get up near 1,500 watts in a tiny convertible. In your case, I would consider a cap only if I noticed the lights dimming with the bass. I just can't see that happening with a single efficient 10" sub though. Three 15"s, sure...

My brother has 1 Kicker L7 and before he added his cap his lights would dim... So its not out of the question. If he uses the stock battery and he has it turned up I would bet his light will dim once in a while, not all thw time but they will.

^ In an S2000? I thought the stock alternator could handle much more juice.

Pete, just install without it and if you need a cap it's trivial to add one later.

I almost got one of these Soundstream SC-1's just because they look so damn cool

No, those numbers are all RMS. Peak is double those ratings (3000W).

I didn't plan to go that high on the wattage. I just wanted some quality parts for my system. Turns out they require more power than I would have imagined.

Well you my need one Pete. You'll have to see if you notice any drain from it. You will however be putting the big hurt on your stock battery though... I would make sure you get a better battery though. With the better battery you may not need the cap.

Okay. I'm looking into a better battery, and a cap, just in case I need them.

More bad news. I ordered the rear speakers I wanted, and the company sent me the new versions (RIP-5204) which I don't like. I've searched everywhere, but nobody has the RIP 524 speakers, so I'm looking for a replacement. I'll probably go with the Boss IQ520 coaxials (350W Peak, aluminum voice coil & magnesium tweeter). I don't know if they will fit, either.

I just ordered 2 amps- the Audiobahn A1502DP and the A1504DP.
