My stereo quote

After a bit of searching, I've found a place I trust doing my stereo install. I 'd like to do it myself, but I know I don't have the patience or talent. There are not a lot of options in my area, so I was unable to sample all the equipment manufacturers.
This place has done seven S2000s, and offered me phone numbers for reference. That is, once they check with the owners first. Evidently this is a common practice there
I regret not listening to Focal Speakers due to their wide support here. The nearest dealer is over 2 hours away. Plus, there's that budget thing.
Here's what I'm looking at. Stealth is important to me, so I don't want to go too crazy. I appreciate any thoughts or comments. I've listed prices, however I feel comfortable there's a little negotiation room lower. I'm also willing to pay a small premium to purchase from a local dealer for support, service, and install.
Head Unit:
Eclipse CD5435 $389 installed
http://www.eclipse-web.com/cd/cd5435.html
w/Sirius Option
w/Audio in for iPod [not iPod controller] $149 installed
Amplifier
Eclipse 2/1 Power Amp
w/ DB Elite Amp kit
http://www.eclipse-web.com/amp/pa4212.html $381 installed
Speakers
Diamond Audio M361
http://www.diamondaudio.com/products/index...&type=29&line=3
$320 installed
DCI - Eclipse style
No places I went to replaced speaker wires as a matter of course. Is it worth doing?
No places I went to had the power come from the battery direct [except the amp]. That is, they want to use the factory power in the harness for the radio. One store even said that would be a fire hazard. Any thoughts?
I welcome all comments!

The CD5435 retails for 349, and there should be no more than 45 for install. You should be able to get them to do the unit for 300.
Periphial makes an Ipod adapter for Eclipse units if you want that. If not,m 150 installed is a good price for the Eclipse Sirius piece, I believe SIRECL-1.
Which 2/1 amp is it? They make a few of them, there new line is the EA2000 which retails for 200. If its that 381 is a bit high, Even at retail, it should be about 350 installed with wires.
The Diamond D361's is what I'm guessing you mean. Ive heard them, not very impressed, the Eclipse SC8264's sound better, but ais a little bit more. Retail is 350. Typical comp. install should be about 85 bucks depending on where the tweeter is mounted.
Get the Focal's if you can, you wont be dissapointed, they sound better than all the rest mentioned. 165V2's are pricier, but worth it. Get the K series if you got the cash. I have the K2P's and they are unbelievable.
Also worth mentioning, adding even a small single 10 inch sub would really fill the bass void that non of the components could do.
Revhi,
What's the price range of the Focals at the place you work?
While I'd like the sound from a sub, I'm probably going to pass [at least initially] for a couple reasons. They are $, easier to add later, and a bit of stealth. My thoughts, however illogical, are a booming bass will attract unnecessary attention to the car. I suppose a loud stereo will do the same thing.
I'm thinking of making a counter proposal in the next two weeks. I appreciate all the help!

just because someone gets higher prices, it doesnt automatically mean he is getting ripped off.
he has a budget, according to him, he cant buy the focals so why make him feel worse about not being able to get them.
that eclipse 4212 amp does not have any high pass filters, are you going to cross them over with the head unit?
what other speaker lines does your retailer carry? i would like to suggest a few sets that i feel are better, but if you cant demo them, there is no point.
where are you located again?
Hey Im just trying to help the guy out from a shops perspective.
The prices I quoted are not cheap. Im just letting him now that the first qoute is always high and how much room he has to play. I know that our shop does the best installs in my area and have done a number of the Eagles players cars, or should I say SUV's since thats mainly what everyone drives. Also I only like to recommed what a customer really needs.
I mentioned just becasue he mentioned them origianlly, not to tease him.
The components talked about all come with crossovers so the PA amp is fine. Most comps also only need 150 of rms power so the PA amp is over doing it if all he is getting is components. He would save money with the EA series amp.
