Default My Stereo set up (don't laugh)

Ok, so here is my story, i wanted to make a budget stereo system for my s2000. I spent about $300 to put this together.

Pioneer DEH6700mp, this headunit ROCKS! it plays mp3 cds. Looks really colourful at night too!!

Here is where i made the board for my subwoofer

Here is my awesome subwoofer.. 1200 max watts!! Amp does 900 watts max

I got that piece of wood for 7.00 from home depot...

Thanks for looking!
Now don't laugh if it looks all ghetto.... i spent less money than buying one of those stealth box things which i saw people selling for around 350..

i bet this system bumps nearly just as well

You could probably make your setup look 100x's better with some automotive carpet to cover up the wood. You could probably buy some off your local stereo shop for small $$$. Also, how did you seal the board against the tool well? I'm just curious I don't think you mentioned this. I imagine if the board you mounted your sub to is not sealed against the tool well that you are running a highly inefficient setup and probably are getting a lot of rattling.

by sealed, do you mean that it fits snug? i thought sealed meant a complete enclosure

wouldnt having a bottom for your enclosure make it sound better? make a mold of your tool well out of fiberglass. i did for mine and it wasnt that hard. just time consuming.

I would seal that enclosure, as most subs are not designed with an infinite baffle. Placing them into a sort of "free air" application like you have can damage the coils.

Yeah I totally again with John and a few others in this thread. You need to actually seal that box up.

ricepatrol - I put my entire system in for under $800. That includes an Alpine HU ($300), Clarion sub ($40), Infinity amp ($80), new door speakers ($60 Blaupunkts), S-pods ($150), and Blaupunkt components for the S-pods ($30). I got a sealed enclosure off eBay for $150.

So thats.....

HU $250
box $150
sub $40
amp $80
door spkrs $60
s-pods $150
s-pod spkrs $30

GRAND TOTAL : $760....and it sounds damn good. Will do for now.
