Default Need help with adjusting JL 500/1 Amp

hey, i just hooked up my 10w6v2 to a jl 500.1, but the installer turned it up pretty high and now the sub is overpowering my mids/highs. What should I do to lower the the amp output? There are so many knobs in teh back of the amp.

This sub hits so damn hard that I can't even turn the volume up 1/3 the gain. But at that volume, I can barely hear my speakers.

Here are teh adjustable knobs

center frequency
infra frequency
boost control
"Q" ???
filter frequency

which one is to control the amount of power going to the sub??
Boost???

You will want to adjust the gain, or input sens. knob. If you turn that down then you can level out your speakers and sub woofer levels.

I will look for a knob that says gain or input sens. I believe there is one that says 0, +4, +6, +8...etc..

I am pretty sure that on JL amps, it is input sens.

Although that is one solution....you should describe your full system and settings (ie.crossovers). You could actually have too low a gain setting on your mid/highs.

I didn't know that you had an amp on your mids and highs too. What I would do would be to put your mids and highs amp at about 5/8 of the way up on he input sens. then adjust your sub amp to level out the sound. The reason you want to put you amp at about 5/8 is because you don't want to overwork you amp to produce distortion or heat.

the guy said he adjusted the mids/highs amp to 3/4s. i'm going ot adjust teh subwoofer amp later. He said he set it almost all the way which I think is probably too much with a 500/1 since the 10w6v2 is rated at 400watts rms

Also there is a switch that says input voltage high or low. Setting it to high will reduce it quite a bit.

which controls the type of bass output? I like the low, tight, clean bass.
