Default Need Help - Alarm System for Self-Installation

Is there a good alarm system available that I can install myself?

Money is not the issue. I would just prefer it if I don't have to take my car to a shop for installation.

Even good shops are under time constraints, and I probably have more time to do a careful install, avoiding scratches and other collateral damage.

I have not done an alarm install before, but I have installed stereo systems, and I am somewhat familiar with the S2000 wiring.

Any advice on systems, or installation would be greatly appreciated.

I'm also interested in pricing for a Lojack install (just curious).

Thanks!

-Pete

I read the instructions for the OEM one and it's a piece of cake. I don't think I'd want that alarm though...

Nothing different, but I installed the Hornet that WLaurent sells and it was a piece of cake -- thanks to his outstanding instructions! Plus, you keep the OEM remote.

Pete
let me know what you go with. I'm interested in one as well. Initially I looked at the Alpine SEC-150r.. It had all the bells and whistles but looked like a task to install.

I am an installer and the Alpine 150R is a pain in the ass to install even for me and the 7-12 year veterans that work with me. I strongly do not recommend anyone who has never done an alarm to start with that one. Also the S2000 is not that easy of a car to do, to begin with.

I installed the WLAURENT Hornet system several weeks ago. It was my first alarm installation and it went very well thanks to his prewiring and excellent instructions. The system works fine and it lets you use the existing OEM remote. PM him, you won't be sorry.

I think that you may be my best resource, so far, on this issue.

I think I may not have made my intentions clear in this thread. I do not want a simple alarm system. Actually, I would like a top-end system, with a pager, dual zone motion detector, tilt sensor, etc.

What I am trying to find out is if there is a really good system that I can install myself. I will try to post some specific alarm systems that I am interested in, and perhaps you can tell me which is the easiest to install. If you have any suggestions or advice, it would be appreciated.

The Hornet that WLaurent sells has a shock sensor, dual zone motion sensor and you can add the pager module to it. I did not get the pager, but did get the battery backup siren.
