Default Need more expert advice on install

First I want to thank everybody for the advice I have received so far. I am psyched at my progress on my first install. So much so that I am expanding my initial goal to include a sub and amp. So far I have hardwired my Escort detector and installed my speakers. I am waiting to get my DCI. I have partially installed my sony HU. The only screw up so far was sticking a screwdriver through one of the speaker cones . I put some tape on the hole and the sound seems ok.

I have a few questions on my amp and sub install. Bare in mind I am on a low budget. My speakers are Polk DB6500 with 92db sensitivity and 100 watt max.

1) Do you have any sub-$200 4 channel amp recommendations? Are profile amps any good? It will be used to run the 2 front speakers and 2 channel bridged for the sub.

2) I was thinking of getting one of wlaurents sub setups? Will this be the best bang for the buck. I don't need low bass just quality bass.

3)I intend to screw the amp vertically into the back of the trunk straight into the body of the car. This is how the amp in my previous S2000 was installed by professionals.

4) I have lucids rear speaker system from my previous S2000 - Is it worth installing it or will it degrade sound quality too much? And if I do install it should I tap into the sub out?

Any opinions on my plans appreciated greatly!!

Do you have any sub-$200 4 channel amp recommendations?
Hifonics Titan 8800. Was $179 at www.sonicelectronix.com. Its 110wrms, so it will not hurt your speakers. Its a better amp than Profile.

2) I was thinking of getting one of wlaurents sub setups?
If you get the Hifonics amp, you will need a sub with a 4-ohm impediance (SVC 4-ohm or DVC 2-ohm).....you will pretty much need a 4-ohm sub with just about any 4-ch amp, as they usually bridge into 4-ohms. Just match the wrms ratings of the subs to the amp. The Hifonics puts out 440wrms when bridged, but the gain can be reduced.

3)I intend to screw the amp vertically into the back of the trunk straight into the body of the car.
Here is a link to my album. Check out how I have my Hifonics amp mounted. Might be a bit bit for the back wall.....
My Album
It was a tight fit, but it still fits with the spare functional (the spare is getting tossed, as I am adding a second amp). It takes some maneuvering to get the spare trim out, but it can be done.

4) I have lucids rear speaker system from my previous S2000 - Is it worth installing it or will it degrade sound quality too much?
I would add a rear channel, whether it be the Lucid speakers, or the S-pods. I would go with the S-pods just because you will not need to amp them, as they will be 6" from your head. I am not sure about the Lucid panels, but I think most people have them amped.....dunno on this.

And if I do install it should I tap into the sub out?
NO! The sub out should go directly to the sub amp. You do not want to split that signal, especially if its only a 2V pre-amp out. Most decent HU's should have a Front, Rear, and Sub pre-amp outputs. If you want to push all speakers via external amp, you will need an additional amp (either for sub or rear channel....depending on what you use the 4-ch amp for), and this is where wiring and mounting availability become an issue. Personally, I would just amp the doors and the sub and allow the HU to drive the rear channel (as that is for fill only, not a driver.....usually).

I am going to be amping my S-pods, but that is because I just upgraded to a 7995 HU that does not have an internal amp. I will be running my Infinity 2-CH amp to the doors, and the front 2 channels of the Hifonics to the S-pods (gain turned WAAAY down as my speakers are only rated for 50wrms).

WHEW! That was LONG! If you need any help with wiring, let me know.

Just my $.02.

Its a GREAT amp! I am going to installing a 7995 this weekend. I will be installing my Infinity 7520a (i think thats the model) to take over the doors, and will be running channels 1-2 of the Hifonics to the S-pods. Hopefully the time correction function on the HU will help with the location of the S-pods a bit.....next I need to upgrade speakers that can take this kind of wattage . The doors are only rated for 80, and I will be running 125 to them. The S-pods are rated for 50, and I will be running 110 to them. I will just turn the amps way down until I can upgrade.

Have you installed a 7995 in an S2000 yet? There is a DC power converter on the back for better power flow, but I cannot get it to fit (thus far just sliding it in). Where to you tack the power converter to?
