Maybe a repost, but cool anyway.

Of course this will probably only work with newer iPods. The "early adoptors" of the iPod seem to be getting a little hosed on the cool gadgets.

I'm hoping that 'iPod ready' is going to mean just head units with ai-net. But who knows, maybe some 2004 head units will have some extra smarts to talk to iPods over ai-net. Sure would suck for me to have to dump my 9813 so quickly.

Just got back from CES and I saw the ipod interface. The Alpine guy said it will work with any unit that has ai-net and the File/Folder Search (Quick Search) keys. Also some of the new units coming will have customizable color keys so you're not stuck with either green or blue.
