This is just a heads up for anyone thinking of PG amplifier equipment (as I was).

The Titanium and Tantrum lines have been discontinued.

In their place will be the new Xenon line that supposedly offers the sound quality of the Titanium line at slightly higher than Tantrum prices. The new amps should be available sometime in April.

Here's a breakdown of the new amps:

There are 3 monoblocks-
X400.1---400 wrms x 1 into 1, 2, or 4 ohms
X600.1---600 wrms x 1 into 1, 2, or 4 ohms
X1200.1--1200 wrms x 1 into 1, 2 or 4 ohms

There are 2 2-channels
X200.2---100 wrms x 2 into 1, 2, or 4 ohms
X400.2---200 wrms x 2 into 1, 2, or 4 ohms

There are 2 4-channels
X400.4---100 wrms x 4 into 1, 2, or 4 ohms
X800.4---200 wrms x 4 into 1, 2, or 4 ohms

Those power ratings are actually RMS into 4ohms, and will of course increase as you lower the impedance.

I saw a one pager on the new amps, hard to tell what they look like other than a rectangle with some vents in the top. They appear to be a silver finish in colour with black endcaps.

That's about all I know. I think I'm going to go with a 400.4 for my system.

Just FYI.

P.S. if you want a really good price on TI or Tantrum amps, sounddomain.com is blowing them out right now.

I was sceptical too, but go to the PG Forums on their website and the truth will be unveiled to you . . .

That makes alot of sense then, I was wondering why I was able to get my Ti's for so cheap. They've been discontinued. Hmmm.

Greater sales and higher profits are strong motivators. Making a great quality product that is overlooked because of price points and sales commisions isn't smart business wise. And let's face it, Phoenix Gold is in the biz to make money.

Youre right, although sometimes I wish some of these companies did SOMETHING for the consumer. Oh well, hopefully, the new line will be great as well. Soundstream is going up, hope PG does too.
