Default No Cut Off Line (Projectors)

Hello all!

I recently ordered some 6000k Philips Ultinons for my s2k.

I had them installed from a body shop which I thought would do a great job. Then came the night driving. I noticed there was very poor light output and absolutely no cut off line at all. I thought maybe the bulbs were not aimed right for some reason, so I got a long screw driver and tried adjusting the projector. It made very little difference and still there is no cut off line. I ordered the same bulbs and installed them in my buddy's GTI. They look AMAZING. Light output and the cut off looks stock but the color itself is a lot whiter.

What do you guys think is wrong with my projectors? My headlights are foggy from the outside but it's not to a point where you can't see nothing at all. I was getting perfect light out put with the stock bulbs before.

Any one had this problem before? I live in the Houston area if someone wants to look at it.

I was next to a 09 Solara parked at a gas station last night in front of a wall. I was embarrassed to see the light output and the cut off. It felt like I had some $20 low beam bulbs in my s2k. HELP! The Solara looked better =(

Bulbs are probably upside down or you got fake Phillips bulbs

So the way the bulb sits in the projector makes a lot of difference? I have a Camry at the house with some cheap flea market 8000k HID's and they seem to have a better cut off then my s2k? So even if the bulbs are fake I should still see a cut off line right?

Yeah even with fake bulbs you should at least be seeing a cut off line, Im pretty sure their is only one way to have the bulb seated in its socket. My best guess is that the bulb isn't completely in the socket, so i would check that. Its not particularly easy to check though, I found it easier to remove the bumper to get the headlights, rather than the wheel well.

Although, having both headlights producing poor output is kind of fishy, what size of bulbs did you use? D2S right?

Yes they are D2S. Someone on this board had recommended me a seller to buy the bulbs from. I ordered 2 sets. One for the S and other for the GTI. One of the bulbs in the GTI went bad after a week and the guy shipped me a replacement at no charge. Basically we got the same bulbs, from the same guy, but results are completely different. I'm confused.

Then my only other suggestion is to check the orientation and the seating of the bulb on the projector.

I took the bumper off and tried turning the bulbs and all that. No cut off at all. So I put the stock bulbs back in. No cut off at all. I'm frustrated now. I'm thinking about just ordering some brand new headlights with some new bulbs. I think one of the most appealing parts of our cars is the projectors. And I want them to look right..
