Default No keyless remotes

Afternoon all,

Just got my first S2K last week (2002) and I am really excited. However, the car came with no keyless remotes. I was going to get one on Ebay but I've sen a few places state that I should insure that the replacement keyless remote that I buy match the numbers on the back of my existing remote.

Since I have zero remotes...how do i know if a remote for sale on ebay will work on my car?

ie; this is one that I was looking at on Ebay..."Brand new Honda keyless with battery and progamming instruction, PIN SET 35011-ka.tx72147-ka FCC ID E4EG8DJ CANADA 850 102 302/210 G8D-452H-A".

Any hints??

Thanks in advance!
Dave

Thanks for the reply. However, I am supposed to verify the part number/FCC ID of the remote I am buying to insure it matches the remote I already have. Since I have no existing remote, what can I do to verify that if I buy one online (way cheaper) that it will work with my car?

thx

I believe that "those places" want to supply you with a remote that is programmed with the exact same code as the one that works for your car. This is not necessary as your car will accept several different codes. You just have to program the remote when you get it. Buy according the year of your car and program it as follows:

I think "those places" are making it much harder to buy a remote than it really needs to be.

ps. Personally, I wouldn't want "some place" to know exactly what my remote code is. Maybe they'll come and open your car and steal what's in your trunk? Afterall, they'll have your address.
