Default non ignition controlled 12v supply?!

I'm trying to install a device that requires a positive and ground (2 wires) splice on any 12v DC constant power supply. i tried splicing in the rear of the 12v adapter in the centre console of my 04 s2k only to find out it's not powered when the ignition is off. any suggestions on a more appropriate source? i am not technical with wiring so detailed explanations would be great. also i don't want to go out and buy fuses and running through the firewall and all that crap since the device came with wire splicing clips so any constant 12v, already fused, supply will do!

There are many places you an tap in from. What are you installing (e.g. power requirements) and in what location do you prefer?

Entourage CIS GPS tracking device. i would prefer it to be under the center console/ under the glove box/ under the secret compartment. that general area. it had 2 meter of wire available from the device. it needs to have an un obstructed view to the sky can't go through metal, but will go through plastic. hence i can mount it under the console, not the trunk for example.

it's approximately the size of a slim digital camera.

Here are your options:

Under dash fuse box:
Fuse #17 - 20A Power Window Master Switch
Fuse #18 - 20A Convertible Top Control Unit
Fuse #25 - 7.5A Backup
Fuse #26 - 15A Keyless control unit

Or you can tap into the switches on the center console:
Hazard Warning Switch Pin 6 (White/Black) (10A)
Rear Window Defogger Switch Pin 1 (White/Green) (20A)

wicked, actually i like the center console taps. now i'm not an electrical engineer, but if i tap the power and ground to the Hazard button, won't it complete the circuit and make my flashers go all the time?

If using any of the center console switches, simply tap into the +12V side. These are the pins I called out in my previous post:

Hazard Warning Switch Pin 6 (White/Black) (10A)
Rear Window Defogger Switch Pin 1 (White/Green) (20A)

For the ground, it's best to ground directly to the chassis.

And no, splicing to any of these signals won't make your flashers go off all the time. Think of it as a battery, you're simply adding another device onto the terminals.
