But how do I play music from my laptop through my home theater system? Is there a specific cable that I can use to connect it? If so, what's it called?

dumb girl = age and location?

seriously...use the output speaker cable and plug it into the aux input on the stereo voila...same principle as if it were an ipod and u did not have the idock or similar stereo

You can run it through a "headphone jack to rca" cable going from your headphone jack on your laptop to the rca auxillary inputs on your home stereo.
