Default OEM Factory alarm intermittent issues

Anyone have intermittent issues with enabling and disabling the oem factory alarm? I have a year 2000 and i often have to press the key fob multiple times before the doors lock or unlock. Sometimes after 30 seconds i still get nothing...

I've tried different batteries, but it seems like the alarm isn't picking up the signal? is this a known issue or is there a fix?

Which battery cable are you referring to ?

It seems like the range is very poor. The key fob will eventually work, but sometimes it takes a full minute before anything happens.

I remove the negative battery cable, wait 30 seconds and put it back on. As soon as I do the alarm instantly responds.. its the only way to get it working again after it dies..

Also the range is a non issue because I cant get it to work standing a foot from the car, or even leaning over into the car. Its something to do with the unit itself I guess...

I've found that if i press the key fob multiple times consecutively it tends to work.

I had a similar issue. Ended up being the battery in the fob. The security module on the car is a receiver the fob is the transmitter. Take a multimeter to the battery and ensure it is fully charged. First one i got had half a charge and simulated the problem not being fixed. All good now with a new one.

Are you talking about the battery in the receiver or the key fob? Is there a battery in the receiver?

Yeah if that doesnt solve it then I would head up to the dealer and see if anyone is nice enough to re-flash your security module. More than likely they will charge but if you get lucky and its a cute girl maybe you can get it done for free. It takes them like 5 mins to do. They have all the special gadgets
