Opinions on Lanzar audio equipment
Please no "They suck!"... if you think they suck, say why you think they suck. I would like honest, insightful reviews on their products... amps, speakers, head units, etc.
I came across their website recently, and although their site is atrocious when it comes to finding what you want, they seem to offer more product types and sheer volume of different products than most of the major audio companies combined. For example, selecting a list of their amplifiers brings up 122 items ranging from Class D sub amps in the $1k range, to stereo A/B-hybrids under $100.

They are "ok" at best. Nothing spectacular. I believe they are under a massive umbrella company that rebadges the products into like 5 different brands. Ive installed one sub amp once, and wasnt very impressed.
What exactly are you in need of? Also, price is a factor, do you get deals on this stuff?

They suck....
I have installed a number of their amps and find that the higher $$$ ones are pretty decent quality, where as there lower cost ones are not so decent. The smaller/lower cost amps tend to run really hot - not something that is good in the Arizona heat of summer.
Subs were like a combination of Audiobahn, Kicker and MTX all wrapped up in one. For the most part they are OK sounding, but lack natural sound reproduction and IIRC had a high frequency of out of box or short life failures.
Of course this is experience from 8 or 10 years ago - may be different now.

Dave, I have an "inside contact" there, so I was considering them for a sponsorship, but I didn't want to fill my car up with questionable crap, hence the question. The major Japanese companies (Alpine, Sony, etc.) basically don't want to touch people for sponsorships. The US-based companies are almost as tough, JL Audio stating directly on their website that you had better have a completely show-winning vehicle to even think about being sponsored, and Kicker wanting SEMA booth guarantees. They list a handful of brands, and you click on a particular brand logo to display the products... funny thing is, no matter what logo you click the same entire list of items is displayed.
WL, it's interesting that you mention Audiobahn... one review I read online said some guy ordered two Audiobahn Bazooka tubes and they had Lanzar subs in them. Other reviews (obviously by kids) tended to say the sound was decent, the subs kicked hard, but they often failed prematurely (6 months, maybe more). I didn't look too heavily into reviews of their amplifiers.
The pricing is obviously quite a bit less than the other major players on the field, but if I request a sponsorship I'll be pushing for the higher end stuff, and if anything fails they'll obviously replace it. I just wanted to know if it was an avenue worth pursuing...

Oh, and what I was interested in putting together...
I'm looking at a 10" sub run by a class D amp. Some components run by a class A/B. Maybe some bling in there for the look, not operation, like a cap. None of their head units look to be of a high enough quality for me, so I'll just stick with my Kenwood...

THis is a very different conversation if we are talking sponsorship. If you get the products for cost, and get a sponsorship "in writing," meaning a REAL sponsorship, then I would take it. If anything ever fails, they will replace it (as sponsors do) and will probably provide you with a lot of stuff gratis (wiring, etc etc)
However, I do NOT believe they will sponsor you if you dont take your car to shows, have bling work done, etc.... I mean, think about it, sponsorship is a form of advertising, so if you put your amp where the spare tire goes, and use William's stealth enclosure, you are doing nothing for them. One hand washes the other in this case.
So, my advice, if they are really serious about sponsoring you (make sure you are getting something good out of the deal, Lanzar is VERY easy to get cheap online) then give it a shot. If not, they are not good enough for you to give them a shot.
This is, just my NYC .02

<chuckle> I suppose you haven't been privy to my conversations in the Florida forum... my ride is becoming a show car. At the moment I have 5 full sponsors, 2 partials, and several pendings.
I get my ride back from the bodyshop next week, where it has already been worked on for the last month. A full Veilside kit has been molded to the frame, followed by a respray in a Kandy Razberry (actually, I think they're using Wineberry). Lots of powdercoated stuff will be happening once I get it back, lots of polished aluminum bits, carbon fiber hood and other stuff, etc. etc.
The cosmetics are looking good (though I still have a few major things I would like to do for next year) interior and exterior wise, so next up is audio... I'm sliding in some performance items from time to time as the opportunity arises.
<edit> Oh yeah, I'm scheduled for HIN Orlando in July and HIN Miami in December, along with a number of Spring Break shows come early 2007 (and smaller shows mixed in between time). She will be attending shows.

Contact Alphasonik, they have great sponsorship terms (if you can get it)....
Good luck with everything, and let me know if I can help in any way.
Oh yea...pics of the paintjob PLEASE!
You wanna fly down and do the fiberglassing?
Actually, I'm still looking for a (semi-)local shop to do the install, once I figure out who is giving me what. I'm looking for creative ideas, not just "We'll slap a fiberglass panel in here and screw the amps to it"... if I'm going to do it, it needs to be done right.
And to think, all of this started because some F#CKNUT decided my car looked better with a scratch from headlight to taillight...

I would fly down, but in all honesty, my fiberglassing skills are not NEAR show car level. Wood and Vynil, im your man, fiberglass, thats Johns department.
