Default Passenger window doesn’t work from master switch

The problem I’m having with my s2k, is that I can’t bring up/down my passenger window from the master switch (driver side controls). The window will only work from the passenger side or if I use the soft top switch. And I know somebody will probably respond to this thread and just say , why don’t you just reach over and use the passenger switch and my response to that , is the inconvenience and how tedious it can be to want to roll down the window.

If you have any recommendations or some idea what it could , then that would be greatly appreciated

if the passenger switch works and the lockout on the master is off, you got a bad switch. either take it apart and fix it, or get a new one.

What exactly would I fix ? Just the passenger switch part of the master switch ?

open it up and see if the contacts are burnt or dirty. usually a disassemble, clean and reassemble will get it straight.

Or you have an issue with the soft top module. Just spent a bunch of time helping my friend with this. If you have the shop manual it explains how to test and isolate it. But, soft top controller is part of the circuit. I am dropping some scans from my shop manual in here. Quality is not great, manual has been used and is a bit greasy But will help you troubleshoot

that schematic shows the left and right switches going straight to the motor, nothing in between. if it works from the passenger switch and not the driver switch when the blu/red and blu/wht and directly tied to the two switches wouldnt that be something either IN the drivers side assembly or the wire(s) running across? there is no module that breaks the lines.

Read the troublehsooting test above. If the soft top control module is faulty the passengers window will not work properly. Also look again at the schematic, the red/blue wires out of the switch go straight to the convertible top module,

It is kind of confusing because they do not show the passenger side window motor in that part of the diagram, but if you look at the circuit diagram for the soft top controller you see it being fed from the module. And neither shows a parallel path between the switch and motor. And to test the motor, you do not test from the switch harness directly. There is a separate harness connector in the passenger side door with the two connections that feed the motor directly. The rectangle in the pic below is the soft top module. I just included the right side of the diagram which includes the motor. Again, may not be the issue here, but follow the test procedure to isolate it.

ah ok, now i see it! still odd, both switches tie INTO the top module on the same lines and the passenger switch works the window...
