I had my V1 sniff out it's first speed trap this morning. Going down DeSoto towards my workplace there's a favorite spot for the local motorcycle cops to set up speedtraps. Detector or not, I always watch my speed going through this zone.

At about the same time I spotted him, the V1 bleated a K-band warning. This officer was targeting traffic going in the opposite direction I was travelling. I suddenly got two more bleats...

Both from other officers I never spotted.

Where do you guys install your 8500? Any custom jobs with pictures? Also, i checked out their accessories and found a direct cable so I might be hardwiring it. Any advice or great install locations would be greatly appreciated!

BTW, started using it today and it picked up a CHP motorcycle on Ka. Gave me enough time to slow but fortunately he was going the other way. Thankfully

Thanks. Good stuff. I like the location of both the radar and the smart cord. Professionally installed?

Yeah, but only because I recieved the detector the day before I had my alarm installed. I did a similar thing in my truck, and did it myself. It's pretty easy.

I have a 8500 in my Pilot but use a Solo S2 in my S. Same detector but cordless. Works great! Battery last about 2 months and alerts you when it is time to change it.

I had a battery based detector once. Even though the battery meter would read OK, there would be substantial range lost as the battery weakened.

The REALLY cool thing about the Solo, is that it CAN be hardwired using the same smartcord. Think about taking an hour and wiring in a smartcord.
