Default Pics? 8 Inch Sub behind seat has it been done?

Hey I am looking for some ideas of putting 2, 8 inch subs behind each seat.... I realize normal subs will be to deep, so what I am looking for is the SLIM subs.

I know Pioneer and kicker make them but what I am wondering is if ANYONE has actually done this yet. I am trying to keep the sub out of the trunk... I have seen people put normal speakers behind the seats so I know it may be possible.

I think the issue behind the seats is that there's a metal bar prohibiting you from putting something large there. I think both the mounting depth and the diameter is too large for a sub... as people usually throw 5 1/4" midbass speakers there with varying success. I've got a pioneer 10" shallow mount in my trunk in a small custom enclosure in the bottom half of the tool well. Another idea might be to put a shallow mount sub in a small enclosure where the spare tire sits. There's also been at least one documented thread in which an owner put a custom enclosure in the front part of the passenger footwell, where a foam block normally sits.

Got these pics from a roll bar thread......

if your serious about putting subs behind the seats you could take that crossmember out ( its bolted in ) and make a new out of tubing to give you the room for 8s or even 10s.

Only thing about it is that the interior panels would need to be cut up which would make it harder to put back to stock....if thats a concern

I almost went with that sub and put it in the passenger floorboard. The sub maybe able to do what you need it too.

Maybe a 8" will fit in one of these?

OK so I did it! I got the amp in a good spot and mounted. But the sub I am gonna play around with, see if I can get more space to use from behind the inerior panel...

4 channel Pheonix gold amp. each door speaker has a channel then the 2 rear channels are bridged for the sub.

No issue on clearence.

The sub... This is as far back as the seat will go. I used the exact measurements that are minimum for this sub. I don't mind it since I am only 5'5 and this is where me seat is anyway! But my Fiance is taller then me.... 5'7 and needs a big more room. Thats IF she drives it.

The box. I gotta do something else. And it will not fit under either seat.

I just don't want it in the trunk, All the sound guys I talk to say if It can be put in the cockpit then it will sound much nicer!

If you're really desperate I heard something about taking out the center console assembly and doing something custom there. I would never do it considering it's the only storage in the cabin.

Nice work with the amp.
