Default "The Plan"

I've been brainstorming all day over what to do stereo wise in my new S. I figure posting something about it will let me get some sleep tonight, and maybe somebody has something to comment on

The system in my 350Z is being stripped out as I prepare the car for sale, so I plan to re-use what I can.

Head Unit: Either a new Alpine CDA-9857 or my old CDA-9855 (+ ipod controller), whatever the modify dash controls work with
Fronts: Diamond Audio HEX S600s components
Rears: Keeping the stock rollbar speakers and powering them off the HU
Amps: JL Audio 300/2 (fronts) and JL Audio 500/1 (sub) mounted in the toolwell
Sub: I'm leaning towards JL 10W6v2 in a wlaurent box

All of this would be comming out of the Z minus the box, 10W6v2, and possibly the CDA-9857.

I guess I am curious about at least 1 thing with that setup. I'm more interested in SQ than SPL, so I don't really plan to crank up the the gain on the sub amp way up, but I do want a little bit of bump in the trunk.

With a 10W6v2 running at 500W at resonable sound levels, am I going to have to dynamat back there? I hope not.

do you listen to hip hop?
yes then yes. The convertable tray will also rattle.

Talk radio? yes, then no. you'll be fine.

*sigh* I don't want to dynamat and here is why.

1) I love music but I love performance more, so weight is a major issue to me.
2) I realize that no matter what I do, a car just isn't the best audio platform and I won't be able to get the sound I would out of a home system, so I need to decide where to cut my losses and call it "good enough."

I don't want a car that rattles either, so I need to figure out what to do about this. From people's experience, what's the "tipping point" for rattling in the S? Is it possible to alleviate it with less power, or is that a lost cause? If need be, I'll nix the sub all together.

install the sub and see what you can live with.

i hardly drive with the top up, so my rattles are limited. i can live with the small amount of dynomat i installed. If/when i seriously track the car the amps and sub come out easily.

Maybe you can take a nice big poop before you hit the track. That should save a few pounds Honestly you'll never notice the difference in the 10 pounds you'd add becuase of the mat. If you were really that concerned about the weight you wouldn't be installing this audio setup in the first place.
