Default popping sound

I just had some equipment installed in my 98 crv. I had some mb quart rua213's installed in the front and some older reference 6.5 I had in my gsr in the back. I had them put in a alpine cda 9857, zapco amp for the front's. I had an older ppi amp a204 I pulled out of my old gsr as well installed to run the rears. Now it all sounds great, but when I turn on my car or turn it off it pops once through the speakers. It will pop louder depending on how loud the volume is on the head unit. They said it was because of my old ppi amp, it never did that in my acura. Are they telling me the truth or bs'ing me. Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Jay

That happens sometimes with subs, never heard of it happening with regular components though.

I believe in the case of the subs it is dependent upon how the amp is sending the power, something to that effect.

I was experiencing that about 3-4 years ago with my old system in my old car and it was mostly related to the amp, somewhat related to the way the headunit was sending the signal, I believe.

Hope the info helps, sorry it's kind of vague...

I think I get the same popping sound too when I turn on my car. It actually isn't too loud though...at least from what I noticed with my stereo. I just realized this, but it could be not that loud because whenever my 9857 turns on...it starts at a low volume then climbs up to where it was...at least I think it does that.. I figure it's just the way the amp turns on(alpine mrv-f345). Do you by any chance have your deck power line running straight to the battery? I do...could it have something to do with that?

I've been getting the same popping noise through my sub......interested to see what's causing it.

BTW - we should start an S2000/CR-V club

I just looked I have the 9856 not 9857, sorry. Brain fart lol. I just got the crv, for everday driving, they took our demo's away . I have an old 88 toyota 4x4 as well I use for mulch and winter with 160k I just did not want to kill it. CRV's are great vehicles, my wife has a 2005 as well.
