Default Power Acoustic Issue

I recently installed a Power Acoustic headhunt with the Modifry DCI and harness. For the most part everything works great. Except every once in a while the head unit fails to complete it's boot process and does not power on.

Here is the only way I recreate it:
1. Insert key and turn all of the way. Stereo starts to power on.
2. Press the button to start the car while the stereo is in the middle of its boot sequence. (Car beeps six times. If I press the start button between beeps 4 and 5 I seem to have to highest rate of reoccurrence of the issue)
3. Car starts and runs but the stereo turns off and does not continue the boot process after releasing the engine start button.
4. The stereo remains off. No lights in the buttons or anything on the screen. Stereo will not turn on even by pressing the power button.
5. Stereo immediately turns on once the key is clicked back one position to shut off the car.

Car is a 2008. I believe everything else in the stereo system is stock. Battery is a couple of months old and both terminals are solidly connected without corrosion. With the car running I get ~14.5 volts at the battery. Dome light and headlights do not really dim when the starter is cranking. I do not think it's an issue with the Modifry harness because the stereo works the majority of the time. Is there something in the car that draws a bunch of current 4 seconds after turning the key? I am considering exchanging the head unit for a new one at Walmart.

Sounds like a defective unit. Get an exchange. I have an Alpine 145BT in my S2000 for 8 years now. Never had any problems with it (knock on my wooden head).

I am still in the Walmart return window, so I think exchanging is a good idea. At least the head unit is easy to get out.
