Problem wirh oem cassete player speed
Hello guys!
I have a problem with my oem radio cassete player. Well, if there is cassete inside and plays, it plays in normal speed. But.. When I push the button to change the tape direction, it plays the opposite side indeed, but in.. double speed! If I change the direction manually (eject and change the cassete side) it plays again in normal speed. Does my unit need any kind of "hidden" adjusment, or is this just a kind of head unit problem? Please, help me with any kind of suggestion.
I thank you a lot...

Anyhow, the rollers and heads need cleaning. I don't know of anyone that does this anymore. Not for car audio. Maybe looks for another used OEM deck?
Yes, the early s2k (99-00s) came in Europe with cassete deck. My car is 02 and came with cd player, but, after looooooong time of researh all over the whole.. world I finally managed to find the oem cassete player, here, in.. Greece, my country!
As for the rest, I got really disappointed! Some time ago there was a workshop here in my city, where a guy was servicing such devices, but now he is.. retired and I really dont know who the hell is still doing this job here.. Also, in older times, I know that there were some kinds of.. "cleaning cassettes", just for this purpose, but I really dont know if there is still something like this in the.. whole world! Old school things!
P.S. Thanks for the responses...

I had to check the posting date on this. Was expecting 2003 not 2023.
1962 technology was wonderful -- in 1962! There are still cleaning cassettes designed to just go in the slot (see below) And there are dozens of YouTube videos on how to clean cassette players in general. Time to pull the radio and clear off your desk for a morning's work. Beware though that things like belts and pulleys are harder to find than complete radios.
As for nostalgia cassette tapes I copied dozens of them to CDs for my wife and other people. But even CDs are obsolescent -- and try getting one out that's stuck in the player in your dash!

Thanks again for the advice, I will surely follow it, but I think early s2ks (WITH radio cassette player equiped) were launched in 00s, not in.. 1962. By the way, I dont want to destroy the "old school" and authentic style of my car, thats why I want everything oem on it! So, while I still have these cassettes, why not using an authentic and oem device on my car in order to enjoy them? And, by the way again, eventually this is a matter of personal taste and style..

At least you have a Honda S2000 radio!
The Model Year (MY) 2002-2003 US/CDA S2000 radio is part No. 39100-S2A-A10 and has a CD but no cassette player, So a cassette player in one of these cars is not "correct" and will kill your chances for Best in Show ribbons.
I can't find a picture of the 2000-2001 US radio. Part No. 39100-S2A-505. I recall it had tape not CD. I also recall the power output was increased from 20watts/channel to 30watts in 2002.
That's for a US/CDA car. The radio frequency bands (and channel spacing) are different in other parts of the world so the radios will be different.

My chancea for best in show ribbons are probably still.. alive, cause I also kept my oem radio cd player which was the original equipment of my car. And the origin country of my car is.. Germany/Europe. Different countries, different equipment..
1962 as in that is when the technology arrived in tbe world, not when it was used in a small subset of S2000' in certain countries.
Since you like keeping it original, easiest solution is put your oem CD radio back in, and convert all your beloved custom made mix tapes to CD.
