Default Problems with Lucid - maybe not a "Lucid" problem

I would have responded in the other thread, but it was closed.

Anyway, I can shed some light on some of the issues. Lucid is selling the DCI product, which some of you know is manufactured by me. In my spare time. In my basement.

Don't get me wrong, my basement has enough tools and parts to build a space shuttle, but the point is it's a part-time venture for me, and sometimes I can't keep up with demand. I had no idea the DCI would be as popular as it has become. If we farmed it out to a real manufacturing house, the darned thing would cost $150, so we're trying to live in the middle ground where demand is putting a strain on my spare time, but is not high enough to get those 10,000 piece quantity discounts to make mass-production possible.

I frequently get emails from Lucid asking, politely, when his order will ship. I know he gets bashed by buyers when he can't ship on time, but I've never once seen a post blaming his supplier (me), so I have to give it to him for being professional and taking all the heat.

If you can, try to cut him some slack on DCI shipments, since in this case I KNOW it's not his fault. I'm peddaling as fast as I can, but sometimes I just can't keep up.

Well get to work j/k

Seriously though, I think everyone understands that audio parts specifically for the S is definately a niche market and that there really are no economies of scale to take advantage of for small vendors. Thanks for the post.

p.s. Any chance of damaging your dash controls when you continuously try to use them while they're not connected to anything

Modifry, have you attempted outsourcing some assembly to other S2ki memebers? Several of us are probably well qualified. Not sure that I'd have time to help, but others might.

I'd be happy to lend my soldering iron (but relatively sloppy skills) to the cause.

I have to say that I couldn't agree more with what everyone has been saying. The DCI is an amazing product - I couldn't be more pleased. VERY much worth any wait you (the potentially impatient Lucid DCI customer ) may encounter.

Thanks, Modifry!

Man, you guys have got me trembling in anticipation You don't know how much I miss my dash controls and I'm really looking forward to hooking up the DCI so that it adjusts the volume w/ my speed.

I think this whole thread is in response to a response I made to an impatient/anxious Lucid speaker customer. Just for the record, my response was that I was also waiting on an order (DCI in my case) but to hold tight because the delay isn't typical of Lucid as far as I can tell. No complaining here, just comiserating w/ another anxious member

I've had a problem with Lucid too and also tried to post in other thread, but it was closed. I ordered Visonik rear speaker kit in December and they have yet to arrive. They said it was backordered until January, and since then my e-mails have not been answered. Are they still backordered?
