Default Proximity keyless entry

I recently checked out the new Nissan Altimas that have a keyless entry system where you dont have to hit a button on the fob. Instead the door can tell when the fob is nearby and unlocks itself. You can also start the car without inserting the key into the ignition when the fob is inside of the car.

Anyhow I thought the system was slick and was wondering if anyone here knows if an aftermarket system is available to add those features to my s2k. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks guys!

Jim

I'd love to have that feature, too.
It's called in different names like keyless entry, smart key, etc.
But I have never seen an aftermarket kit of those and I don't think it's a simple/easy-to-do job.
Let me know if you find one, tho.

Some compustar alarms/keyless entry systems have this feature. Like 3 years ago I was going to get one for my CL and was told the canadian model had this feature but the USA model didn't. That probably has changed now.

You lazy bums. You still need to get your key to start the car. The keyless feature is only cool if, the car unlocks when you get near it, and when you get in it, you can start it and drive away. If you still need to start it with a key, then whats the point? The unlocking doors might not be too much trouble, but starting the car is definetely a project.

my dad has an 05 acura RL with the keyless entry/start. I think the call it the IntelliKey. Its a cool feature but retrofitting an s2k would be alot of work and theif-bait IMO...still cool though.

It is called Inteligent Key. Nissan's are not the only one to have it. This option unlocks and locks the doors upon aproach (usually 6ix or so feet and it will unlock) and upon leaving. Once inside the car there is a stop/start button that can be pushed without a key in the ignition. I have not heard of any aftermarket technology like this yet. I will say that it is pretty slick option if you enjoy tech features or are constantly on the go.

Hope that clears things up.

I called Compustar today and they confirmed the above statements of their alarms having the Auto arm feature. I was told that I cannot buy it from the USA and that all their 2 way alarms have the feature. I cant find any info online but it is out there.

Thanks for all the information guys!

I wonder if there is any way to get one from Canada? There should not be any reason why it would not work domestically.

Any Idea on the cost of the system?
