The Honda upgrades (Pioneer) thru HandA Accessories (web sponser) have direct plug-ins, just like the stock speakers.

The honda upgrades do sound somewhat better, pretty good change for $45/pair. Many other threads regarding dropins and mods. Try searching. Heard of Sony, Kenwood and Polk as well. These upgrades are 2 way. I believe there are some 3 way drop ins as well.

No need to cut wires with any front speaker upgrades - Circuit City stock a nice little adaptor which connects to the Honda plug and converts it to two normal speaker connections, for just a few bucks.

Can't remeber the part no.
