Default Question on stock Stereo

If I were just to get a Stealth Box and and amp but keep the rest of the stereo stock would the system sound much better or just be flooded with base ?

Also, is there a separate amp that is powering the eight stock speakers or is it just the head unit ?

Thanks,

First getting a stealth box is a total waste of cash. I would tell you that whether you buy a box from me or not. Yes you'll end up with a lot of bass and then you'll wish you could hear the rest of the music...

Get yourself a good headunit to start... then move on from there.

I actually have an almost brand new Clarion CD player from the car I traded in when I bought the s2000 but the guy at the audio shop told me that the deck by itself would not support all eight speakers. And that the speakers in the car are a different ohm that the ones that would need to be used for the Clarion.

My Clarion CD player is DXZ665MP cd player.

I have 1" MB Quart Tweeters and 6" MB Quart mids that went in the door of my old integra.

What would be the best scenario for me to get my Clarion in there and still have 8 speaker sound.

I figure it would probably cost over $1000.00 for a woofer as well.

Any thoughts ?

You didn't say what MBQ you have, but I assume you still have the x-overs for them... so just hook them up. You'll need to rewire the doors.

Then for the rear speakers... You need to rewire them as well but this is how you do it. Look at it like this. Each side of the rollbar is like the left and right side of the car. So you wire the left side from each in parallel (positive to postive and negitive to negitive) with each other, thereby giving you 4 ohms of resistance... same as your HU The do the same for the right side. Doing this will give you balance for the rear left and right channels. Piece of cake.

As for a sub setup... I can get you hooked up with a great sub box, Alphasonik sub 10" 800 series sub, and an amp for about $425... that's less than half

For the sub setup and the wiring to hook that up and the wire to rewire the doors and the rear speakers. so your only looking at about $500 and you'll be ready to go.

They are older MB quarts. I don't know crap about wiring so I can take it to the shop that I normally go to. I think I might have to buy crossovers for them. Are you referring to passive crossovers ?

I am not sure what you mean by rollbar but i will ask the shop if they will do what you are saying.

So I wonder if the deck will adequately power all those eight speakers or should I get an amp for those ?

Is Alphasonik as good as the JL Audio. ?

My friend had JL's and they sounded sweet but it was in his old integra as well.

That's cool. I just wonder why the shop didn't think of wiring the speakers like that. As for the MB Q, they should have a passive x-over that came with them...
As for the roll bar, the speakers next to your head are located in the roll bar. You can see the grilles on the hoops.

The HU should be enough to power 4 tweeters (roll hoop speakers) and the componants. However if you have an amp you should amp the door speakers. Do Not amp the roll hoop tweeters as they will just burn out, just run those off the HU.

I like Alpha as much as JL. JL makes nice gear but they charge way to much for the gear. But if you have the cash then either way. Most people would say JL is better but if I had the choice I would go with Alpha. The Alphasonik subs are just amazing.

Let me reword. They said they could rewire them, but they were not sure if it would give the same sound quality. It sounded as if it would be a "Hack". The guy would do it but I was getting the impression that he was concerned it would not give a good enough quality sound.

Are you guys running the stock speakers behind the head rest ?

It still worries me that he's worried about it. Its fairly easy to do. They will sound pretty good running on a good aftermarket headunit. Just don't amp them, as they will blow. You just need to wire them the way I said.

No, I have Alpine SPX-137a's in the rear panels. I can't remember if Jeff has has rear speakers...

Approximately how long did it take you to rewire them ? Hours that is. I'm eventually going to get a quote for all of this.

Also, does the current stock system just using the amp from the head unit ? Or is there some central amp powering all the speakers somewhere in the dash ?

Thanks,
