Default Quick question on powering rear speakers

I'm about done ordering all the stuff for my system,
I've got a PG Tantrum T600.4 on the way to run my fronts and sub, but now i think I want to go ahead and power the rears while i'm at it (may as well do the whole thing). My rear are Kenwood xr501s, which i believe are rated at 45W RMS. So I'm thinking I need a relatively cheap (100 bucks or so) 2x50W to power them? Any suggestions?

Me?

Those speakers are so close to your head, a V- drive HU amp will be more than enough. fo' real.

I would use the 600.4 for your speakers (front and rear) and get another amp for the sub.

Wouldn't the 600.4 be TOO much power for the rears?

You can use your fader and adjust the gains on the amp, so it won't be too much. Just be careful and listen for distortion whilst tuning as you could easily blow your rears.

I've got the Alpine 9833 powering my rears, & a PG 600Ti powering my fronts (That's 150 watts going to each of the front speakers), and I still have to adjust the fader to the fronts to achieve a front sound stage. i have the gains on that 600 Ti at 85%.

You can power the rears if you want to with an external amp, but IMHO it is unnecessary. Use that power for your sub.

I'd try it with the 600.4 driving your fronts and sub, & if you are not happy, buy an amp dedicated to your sub and use the 600.4 for the fronts and rears, as Dave suggests.

Personally I'd power the rears from the head unit. You want most of your sound to be coming from the front speakers.

I found that it makes enough power without a dedicated connection. And yes, I have the internal amp on. It works fine for rear fill and powers my Infinity Reference speakers perfectly. I actually have to use the fader to bring the soundstage up front. This surprised me with the amount of power I have going to my Focals, but the Infinity Sensitivity ratings are high and the close proximity to my head is definitely a contributing factor.

Imaging is also surprisingly good as well. No need to run them in mono, IMO. With the S-pods I took off the leather cover, and the frequency response was so much clearer. I think i might cut holes for the tweeters, b/c I love the look of the leather on the S-pods, but can't stand the muffled sound. But more about that later.
