Default Which radio do you use in your s2k?

Im gettin a little tired of my00 stock radio. It looks very old and doesnt really go with the car except for the amber lighting. I think on the 02+ models the raido had a little silver added to the face which makes it look a little better. Im trying to figure out which after market raido I should go with and if the radio/cd control unit on the S works with the after market unit. Let me what your using and if your happy with it.

Pioneer...I would though recommend you decide on what you want your radio to do...and buy accordingly. I DO NOT use all options available on my headunit. Some of the options are a waste of $$%$%

Erick.

I've been using my original OEM year 2000 radio with rear panel speakers (the original door speakers, actually), NO additional amplification and JVC 4-ways in the doors. I've been quite satisfied with it and have never felt the need to change it. I certainly don't feel the need to put something else in there that "looks" pretty since I always keep the door closed.

alpine's 9855. I love it and It can do everything I need it too. I use all the features including the time dorrection and parametric EQ so it's at it's full potential.

I'm sporting an Eclipse 8445. A great but fussy deck. Eclipse iPod and SIRIUS radio.

The 8445 was a significant improvement over stock. I can now hear clear music with the top down driving next to a truck. The Eclipse 8445 is a year old model, and is available well discounted across the internet.

It will soon be joined by Focal K2P speakers and a Soundstream Tarantula 2 X 140 @ 4ohm amplifier. The purchase date is: June 16.

Remember to factor in a Modifry DCI in the budget when changing heads. I'd also suggest you consider a MP3 disc deck or iPod connectivity opposed to a CD changer. I have not had a CD changer last more than a couple years before crapping out. As another member noted in another discussion [Dave?], the economics definitely support this.

I haven't read a post here where someone complained about the result of changing the border line average stock head unit. However, it's like home stereo. Some people are happy with just a boom box, and some people have extensive stereos. It's what you want.

I just installed a Sony MEX1GP in my MY00 S2000 about two weeks ago (along with an adapter from DJ Qube). The difference in sound quality is astounding.

To echo the earlier MP3 cd recommendation, it kicks butt to have so much music available. I actually went with a deck that has an MP3 CD player in the Head Unit, plus a gig of memory for MP3s in the face plate, plus a 10 disc MP3 CD changer in the trunk. I have almost enough music capacity to drive cross country and back without hearing the same song.

Anyway, do be sure you take into account the cost of the DCI adapter you'll need (the DCI -- dash control interface -- is what you need to make the in-car controls work with your stereo). Both Modifry and DJ Qube sell them.

I use a low-feature Alpine - no issues with operation, clean sound, no stuff I don't need (like a moving faceplate).

Also, whatever you get, you'll need a Modifry DCI to retain dash controls, so that's an extra $100 to any stereo, but well worth it.

Its a good raido and works as every stock radio should work, but if you didnt notice the civics, odysseys, and other hondas share the same raido more or less. I figured a sports car should come with something a little nicer looking and better features. Dont you agree?
