Honestly, and please take no offense, you would have to be a retard to put in speakers of that caliber into a car like an s2000. Rainbow's, Brax, etc are made for cars like an LS600H, a Maybach, etc etc....cars that are completely sealed from the outside world. You wouldnt be able to tell if they were brax or kicker in an s2000.
They are not made for cars like a LS600H or Maybach, etc etc. They are made for audiophiles. You will be suprised how many owners of top dollar speakers do not own super expensive vehicles.

Road noise can be treated and the real question is, how far are you willing to go? Audiophiles are willing to go the extra mile, like me. I have over $11k(retail prices)
of audio gear in my car. Can i hear the difference with top down at 80mph, not the frequency response, but in terms of staging, imaging and depth, i do. Top down in the city, i can definately hear a difference in my high end gear.

For the most part, i am running Hardtop full time, i removed the softtop and motor.
I was able to reduce the road noise in the vehicle significantly, how much, i have no clue, but its comparable to my old integra with deadening.

A trained ear is everything in high end audio, i used to come from loud bass and high treble, at that time, thats what i was looking for in terms of sound. If i did not have that in my system, i thought it did not sound good and as i slowly made my transition to SQ, my tastes in what i like have changed. As well as my ear to hear certain differences, my ears are a lot more sensitive to hearing the entire freq range than before, which in turn, identify different sound characteristics. I often wonder how I actually enjoyed a crappy sounding system.

Good sound is held by the eye of the beholder.

I own an above average home audio and home theater system which I estimate to be a little over 10 grand. This is way below a true audiophile's set-up but give's nothing away in the sound dept. I suspect the same occurs with car audio.
Nothing wrong in owning the best of anything but most of the returns come in "pride of ownership" rather that greater returns in audiophile sound quality.
With unlimited funds, I too would only buy the best which in truth only competes with top level consumer grade equipment. (my opinion of course)

what does your home audio setup consist of?

Car audio is very different from home audio. In car audio, an equalizer is a must have to enhance the SQ due to speaker relections, premature wavelength dispersion and the resonance frequency response .

High quality installation and tuning will either make or break your system.

Think of it like this, the installation in a car is like the design of the speaker cabinet. The tuning of a system in a car is like the complicated crossover design/parts for the speakers and the cabinet. At the same time, when tuning a car stereo system, choosing the right crossover points for each individual speaker is crucial.

Dual Aragon 2ch and three Nohr monoblocks, SVS Ultra passive sub, with Nohr ceramic drum speakers and a large AR center speaker. Sub power ,1 1000w Crown amp.
Steering all of this is my pride an joy Sony 777ES witch is about 8-9yrs old and used solely as a preamp.
Top notch consumer electronics mated with moderatly priced but a little more expensive and less well known electronics works very well at a price many can afford.
