Hey everyone I just bought an S2000 last week. I've never even heard the stock radio, I don't know what the security code is for the radio. But it's okay because I planned on replacing it so I can use my iPod and add features like HD radio and bluetooth. I'd like to hear comments and suggestions on my build before I charge everything on my credit card. Let me know what you think!

Is this a good set up? Worth the money? Will it sound good in an S2000?

 

Honestly, I don't think you need a sub in the S if you have good mids. Maybe you should get a 10 instead of a 12. What kinda of music do you listen too?

*edit* Also, I've read alpine and BT arent the best of friends. You should look for something with built in BT instead of an add on.

 

Yeah, I guess I could get the 10" ID sub, it's still rated at the same power. I want to get an Alpine head unit because it works well with the Modifry harness and I don't have to worry about splicing if I get the plug and play harness.

Any other opinions?

 

Alpine mightily annoys me w/ their nickel and diming customers for so many frickin' add-on boxes. Not only does it get expensive, but it takes up precious space and adds to the rat's nest of wiring behind the dash.

W/o Alpine, you still don't splice into the factory wiring - you just need to spice the new radio harness to the Modifry harness. Not a big deal, just a little extra work.

I just ordered the Sony DSX-S300BTX - built-in BT, no extra modules, supports USB drives as well as as Apple stuff.

I have an older Alpine HU and like it alot. I just got a BA amp this off season - I cannot say too much about it since I have only driven top down once since installing it. I will say that the music is clearer at speed than the JBL I replaced.

 

have you ever taken apart a sony hu?

Alpine nickels and dimes because they can and because they spent that much. well, probably not 100% nowadays, but at least still true for 70% of what they offer

 

you'll need ID12D4 to work with that amp...
