Default Rear Speakers in 2003 Not Working

Hi,

The rear speakers aren't working in my 2003. Wiring *seems* to be good, obviously I faded the radio to the rear.

Any suggestions for troubleshooting this myself?

Thanks

no need to be a jerk. i saw that you have only been a member for two days and maybe you didn't know that the ap1s didn't come with rear speakers

so how about you help us out a little bit with some information?

since the 03 didn't come with rear speakers...

what kind of speakers are they? who installed them? where do you have them mounted? are they running of the head unit, if so is it stock or upgraded? or are they running off an amp?

It does have speakers, I haven't been able to see the name on them though, I only did a quick voltmeter test with the local connections back there. It's tight to work on back there, so I have to wait till the weekend when I can properly pull everything (including the head unit) and do some proper testing.

But yes, after reading and researching this I did find that they aren't standard. Odd I think.

ok, here's a guess:
the stock headunit supports rear speakers, but the car's wiring harness
does not. The prior owner likely installed an aftermarket headunit, and ran
the rear wires directly from the headunit's harness. When he sold it, he
swapped back in the factory headunit, leaving no way to get the rear
speaker outputs.
If this is the case, you can:
- replace your factory headunit with an aftermarket one
- make an adapter harness out of one that plugs into the car joined to one
that plugs into the radio
- add the necessary pins/wires to the car's harness. I believe Honda
makes something called the "Headrest Speaker Sub Harness" for this
purpose, but may not be so easy to track down
