Default Rear Speakers Any Real Difference?

Here goes the Question for all of those with rear speakers in the panels behind the seats. I'm running an Alpine 9827 with DCI controller and MB Quart PCE-216's in the doors. I'm thinking of adding 4" or 5 1/4" speakers to the rear panels but, is it worth it? Can you even hear them with the door speakers so close?

I wont vote, but tell you this. You wont get 1/8th of the sound with rears as you can with just amping your MBQuarts.

129 bucks.

There is no way on gods green earth you can get better bang for the buck, especially if you already have components and a nice headunit than a nice amp.

I have an alpine HU and when I blew my rears and had to replace them, you can tell the difference w/ and w/o rears like night and day.

I vote, get it!

I have the alpine 6 disc cd changer as well, so my next upgrade is an alpine amp. If I blow the rears again, I'll get some alpines for that too. Why not, I'm planning to go all alpine.

I can tell a world of diff when I fade rears out. You have a aftermarket HU and have no idea how the sound would be compared to my OEM.

Some of you people just dont get it.

YES, there is a difference with rears and without rears, no one will argue that. But, how big of a difference? Are you telling me that rears make a bigger difference that amped fronts? Of course not. Not in this lifetime. Amp your fronts.

Well my experience is there is no difference. Let me explain. I'm 6'2" and need to have the seat all the way back. This completely blocks the sound. If I slide up the passenger seat, I can hear that speaker but otherwise - no go. So my caveat would be, don't do this if you need to have the seat back.

JonnyDEV,

look into the S-pods. Seat position is not a consideration for these amazing headrest speaker mounts.

I had rear speakers in my 02 and now in my 04. They defintely make a difference and moreso with an aftermarket head unit.

I`ve never used an amp as I`ve never seen the necessity ... even when listening to a multitude of other S2000 with full installs, it`s never lit my fire. Each unto their own I reckon.

I'll add my vote for the S Pods...I don't think rears behind my seats would do much good. I'm 6'-1" and the seats are all the way back
