Default Remote Start COMPLETE

Finally it works

For those of you that are trying to do this..
Direct Techs wiring diagrams shows two ignition wires, but our car actually has 3 ignition wires. And most alarms only have two ignition outputs so you must use a relay if you dont have three ignition outputs on your alarm.

Nice. I was considering one of these with winter coming up.

When I park the vehicle does it need to remain in neutral or can I park it in gear?

Must be in Neutral...Most have some type of process you go through before you get out, if you want to use Remote Start the next time you Start.

Does that process not allow the starter to work if the vehicle is in gear? I want one but I fear that I will try to start it while parked in first gear.

Care to elaborate a bit? I'm just finishing a Compustar Pro install with an Honda SL3 Bypass kit but I haven't touched the ignition portion of the car yet...

What 3 wires should I be working for (colors)?

Also, what type of relay wiring? Any help would be great thanks in advance...

I followed all the wire colors direct techs gave me, except since they didn't have the 3rd ignition wire I had to probe and find that.. I dont remember which color it is, but I will be going back in to clean up the install so I will get you that information soon. I work today and tomorrow so I will try to get it to you asap..

The third "ignition" circuit is not required - it's just for the radio and accessory socket.

There are 4 ignition wires that need to be powered but it's only 2 circuits. One circuit is divided up into 3 separate wires so it can feed different fuses, but inside the ignition switch they are all connected to the same place. You need to power blk/red with one of your remote start's ignition relays and use the other relay output to power one of these: blk/yel, blk/yel, org. Powering one of these wires will put power on all 3 of them.

The remote start systems usually have a "shutdown process" you must go through to establish that the car is in neutral (like it must see the clutch pedal up and the engine running).

Personally, I don't trust those methods as it's too easy to put the car in gear after you've done the correct "setup". You might consider adding a neutral switch or brake switch. I added both, along with a sensor to detect if the car moves. Details here
