First I searched and have been to s2000.org. I have a few questions about setting up my iPOD. I have all the parts and want to put the iPod in the glovebox. I just need some help on some things.

I am planning on wiring up a cig lighter behind the passenger kick pannel and hooking up a belkin iPOD adapater and running the male end through the center console to the glove box. This safe? Seems pretty easy for me.

1. Which wire do I splice for the charger? Off the head unit harness?

2. How do I remove the black plastic thing around the shift boot? Does it go all the way back?

3. What do I have to remove around the glovebox to drill the holes and run the wires so it is really clean?

I can help a little bit.

1. You should just tap off the back of the accessory outlet plug.

2. Just pull up on it. It has like 6 or 8 snap clips... just give it a good tug and it will pop up. If you have a door clip popper you can use that, just place a piece of cardboard under it so you don't scratch the leather on the tranny tunnel.

3. You have either take it all apart and do it on the bench or if you have a Dremel you can just do it in the car.

I don't have any pictures for you though...

1. You can do both on that circuit without a problem.

2. Not that I know of online... umm... you could have someone from your local club that has the helms manual help you out or you could just buy one for $50 bucks.

I also got the idea of cracking open the Belkin adapter and just hard wiring the sucker in. Seems like a waster to wire up a cig lighter just for the belkin adapter.

 

You can get them from hardtopguy.com for a good price.

What's the Belkin adapter look like. You can just solder the wires right to the terminals of the accessory plug. no adapter needed. the circuit is already fused. I would however up the fuse a few amps just to be safe.

Yes but I if your going to load it up I would either keep an extra fuse handy or just up it a little... and I stress a little only a few.

 

Check out the Neo Ion and the Denison Icelink. They're pricey (around $200 for the Neo), but they'll be much much easier to install. They run a single wire from the dock connector to the back of whatever headunit you may have, which supplies audio and power. It eliminates the step of wiring up another cig lighter and you can get basic control of your ipod through the headunit and dash controls, which is really convenient if the ipod is in the glovebox.

Doesn't exactly answer your question, but I love my setup with the Neo (I have it mounted next to the shifter with a proclip holder), and this may make you happier in the long run, so I thought I'd pass that info along.
