Default Replacing Door Speakers

I have an Alpine 9825 HU, Alpine 5 1/4" Type-R components in S-Pods, Alpine 10" Type E subwoofer, and an Alpine MRV-T320 V12 amp.

The system sounds great, but I'm just curious can it really get any better by just replacing the door speakers with aftermarket ones. Or is it a waste? If so, which ones do you recommed?

Thanks for the opinions and help.

I a;so have an 03, I replace the HU and didn't really find an audio improvement until I replaced the door speakers. My signiture line will give you my set up. Incidently, others will jump on me about this but there is no realneed to install new speaker wire in the doors, the wire is 22 gage and will handle 150 watts.

I have a MY2000, and if memory serves, the speaker wire was in the 26 Gauge range... just enough to crank 20W or so through it. I like to think they beefed things up since then.

I noticed a huge improvement by replacing the speakers... followed by another huge improvement when replacing the head a few months later.

Also upgrading your front speakers will make a big improvement. However to get the most out of them you really should have them on an amp. Then you will need to upgrade the wiring into the doors. A system will only perform as well as the weakest link
This is probably an obvious problem and I should start a thread but I'm going to ask it here. Since the factory door speakers are so low that your legs will block out most of the sound, has anyone fabricated another spot to put the door speakers else where like near your hips or a little higher above your knee etc.? I'm just curious.

Its not as bad as you would think. However that said keep in mind that those are mids, the highs should be a little higher up on the door on in the A-pillers.

I guess that decides it. I'm getting new door speakers. Thanks for the info and input.

I was also concerned about my leg muffling the sound of the speaker, which it does already.
