Honda retail is $22.67 each.
I have an '00 and I was told I needed to buy the whole door panel for both sides. Price was somewhat prohibitive. When you get these on, let us know if it's possible to just get the speakers and grill and adapt them to an older model. I believe the tweeters are simply wired in parallel with the main door speakers, yes?

I haven't seen any to match my red dash.

What is the big difference that you have noticed?

True, you are not going to find all red door panels, but There are alot of diffrences. With my old doors, I couldn't really put my arm on the door panel. The end of my shoe always dragged across the bottom door panel on ingress/egress. The leather sticthinng is in the opposite direction... there are alot of design diffrences. I have a pic of both the old and new ones. I do not think i can post them but if someone else would like to........

on the aftermarket components there is a crossover that seperates frequencies; sending high frequencies to the tweeter and low frequencies to the midrange. The stock speakers don't have crossovers, i believe they have inline frequency blocker that simply "blocks" frequencies from going to the wrong speaker.

so with stock speakers, would parallel work? yes. it does work. just make sure that there is something that prevents low to midrange frequencies from going to you tweeter.

aftermarket you need the crossover. It has two wires in: +- / four out: +- low, & +- high

hey guys,
sorry to butt in -
i did this mod to my '00 a few months back. it was relatively easy and looks like factory but you do have to grow some sac to cut the large holes in the door panels. i got lucky and didn't screw them up. and yeah, $44 for the pair.

i took a tape measure into my local dealers showroom and took measurements of their locations on the door panel.

the info that the dealer gave you about it not working with older door panels IS WRONG!

the 04 grills only come in black so (as you mentioned) they will kind of "visible" on a red door panel.

i installed ads 346i components (the x-over fit perfectly in the plastic pocket in the lower, trailing edge on the inside of each door panel). i wonder what that pocket is for?? i did need to make a bracket to screw into the two posts on the inside of each grill and support the tweeter body. bending up two small stanley 90 angle brackets from home depot did the trick.

i could not be happier with the results! it looks fantasic and sounds even better

The existing bass blocker will most likely also work for the new tweeter as well as the impedience of the speakers will be the same or close. The only consideration would be the crossover frequencys. A real crossover is nice but will cost more.

My question is... I have an '03. there are already holes there. Do the 04 holes 'overlap' the '03 holes?
