Default Rookie Mistakes - HU Install

Hey guys,
I just popped a new alpine HU, Modifry DCI and KTP 445 amp into the S. I cut my hand on the metal inside the dash too many times too count and lost a good amount of blood, but everything worked when I turned the car on so it was worth it.

I haven't installed a head unit before and had a question about the fit. It was pretty difficult to get all the wires pushed back so that the HU would slide in. I did my best to make as much room as I could, but I still ended up forcing it a little bit to get the screws on. Is this normal...and if not normal is it bad?

Thanks

I have the same setup, what I did was pull as many of the excess wires behind the passenger dash access panel (I also stuffed my ktp445 in that area).. It was still a very tight fit to get the deck all the way in

Normal, its pretty cramped back there. Good job on your first install. Losing some blood is like earning your stripes. Lol

Haha well I definitely earned those stripes then.

I was thinking about putting the KTP in the access panel area...but I've heard that it won't work in an AP2 because of additional space the small shelves take up.

Can anybody shed some light on that?

I have a 2005 ap2. If you have a 2006 or higher then it probably won't fit

Yeah I have an 07. Damn, that would have been a perfect place for it too.

Thanks for the help though. Much appreciated

I'm really interested in finding a good spot in 06+ models! That amp is next on my audio upgrades list

What alpine HU did you get btw?

I got the CDE-143BT. Nothing fancy, but it's got all the features I wanted (Ipod, bluetooth, preamp outputs for later). 129.99 on Crutchfield.
