Thumbs up S2000 convertible alarm system

Hi guys,

I'm reading a lot about S2000 seats being a very 'hot' item when it comes to theft. I'm planning on getting an S2k soon, and I know it has an immobilizer and all, but an audible alarm doesn't seem like it would do the trick when someone cuts your top. I saw a few places sell an RF disturbance unit that detects if there is a disturbance within the vehicle and sets off the audible alarm. It seems like a good idea, but what would you guys recommend, or what do you use?

Thanks

On my Celica, I had a 2-way paging system (CompuStar system) it had a proximety sensor that could detect motion in the cabin. Say for instance my windows were down, if someone just reached into the car the alarm would be tripped. You can set it to be a certain radius, and to a certain amount of motion to set it off. I also had it set up that if someone walked within 5ft of the car it would chirp once at them.

Call me paraniod, but my car was vandalized once and I don't take anything to lightly.

Also get some seat locks, theyre just like wheel locks but for your seats, that way if someone cuts the top, they wont get away with our expensive seats. Ive seen lots of cars get totalled just cause of a slashed top and stolen seats. Also try to find an s2k with the oem alarm, my alarm will go off if they open the doors, so if they slash the top and unlock the car from the inside the alarm will go off.

Thumbs up

Sounds like a good idea, I tend to look at www.directed.com for parts. The seats are my only big concern about this car. There's a couple of S2k's up in my area, and one of my friends uncle had his top slashed and seats stolen overnight...but, he left the car on the driveway. I have a garage to park it in, but I'm worried when I go to malls or just park at underground/public areas.

@CU Nick:

How many proximity sensors do you need? One for each window, or can one detect the whole interior of the car?

Yo, where did you buy your proximity sensors? And will it work on Python 2a's?
