Default S2k radio

First off hi everyone and thnx for any input. So here it goes, I purchased my s2000 about 4 months ago and when i installed my knn the radio stopped working. I was told i needed some code but when i took it to the honda dealer they said it would cost me 200 dollars to fix. I figured i could just save up a little bit more and get a better radio on my car.

So my question is, what type of radio would fit on the s2000 or rather does it need to be custom? And around how much money am i looking at?

First off, the radio code is free from Honda, all you need is the serial number from the radio to look up the code and you plug that in. That $200 statement is a lie.

If you are looking to get an aftermarket radio though, check out crutchfield.com. Put in all your car info and it will tell you every radio that will fit in the s2k.

thanks, ill look that up. As far as the radio code goes i don't have the serial number and they said the 03 wasn't registered or something. The reason it would cost 200 dollars is because they need to remove the radio and they charge per hour of service i just thought it was ridiculous.

Ah, you can do it yourself in about 5-10 minutes, I did with mine. Check the DIY/FAQ thread, it's in there and is SUPER easy.

it takes 5 minutes to take the radio out. that includes 3 minutes of drinking as well as you should do anytime you work on a car.

do not pay $200 for that service.

if you are looking to upgrade, pretty much any single din stereo will fit in the s2000. lots of good ones out there. alpine models have always been my personal preference.

if it's your stock radio you want to keep then call this number: 1-800-999-1009

you need to give them your VIN# so have that ready as well. They'll give you step-by-step instructions as to how to get your serial # and give you your radio code.

This is the main Honda help line and they'll be glad to help.

edit: turns out i wrote down instructions too.
1. Turn off unit
2. Press and hold keys 1 and 6 while turning the radio on
3. U_ _ _ _ & L _ _ _ _ will show. Ignore U & L and that's your serial code.
4. Give the tech your serial code and they'll give you your unique radio code.
