S2ki store sub box.
i was wondering if anyone has the subwoofer box that is sold on the s2ki store? the one that is mounted on the side of the trunk. If so how does it sound and what size woofer do you have in there?
Hi YellowS2,
I recently purchased the driver side version of this sub enclosure... There are several posts on it you may wish to read (https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=73502).
The overall quality is very good.... Rubberized deadener inside, nice carpet on the outside, nice speaker terminals, etc....
I ended up picking my own woofer, so my review (which I hope to post soon) will not be of the exact setup sold. William gives you the choice of having just the hole cut, and you install the speaker yourself or his rockfordfosgate subs...
One little annoyance you should be aware of... If you order the driver-side one, the trunk-brake light wire runs up the hinge thingy. The trunk lid will not close without removing the little brown posts... I ended up using electrical tape to hold the wire to the hinge... There should be no problem for the passenger side....
So, my setup is as follows:
CDT HD63-DT (Front speakers)
CDT MS-80 SQ SUB (100 WRMS) in Driver side WLAURENT enclosure...
Blaupunkt PA4100 (100x4, setup as 100x2 + 350 x1)
I'm still waiting for my raammat sound deadner (http://www.raamaudio.com, sale info http://www.cureline.net/lex/raamsale.htm) to arrive, once I have that I'll try to write up a full review...
Some inital comments...
Is it enough BASS?????
Well, this is a very tough question to answer... Overall I would say that you need either 2 MS-80's or 1 higher power sub. I didn't want earth shaking bass... On most songs I'm more then happy with my setup, in fact for techno it sounds incredible... I'm not sure why but hard metal songs (Nirvanna, Social Distortion, Metallica, etc...) tend to sound crappy.. I can't describe it exactly, but the bass doesn't sound quite right, it may be the fronts, it may be the sub its hard to tell...
Anyhow, for the most part I'm happy... The bass is there for 90% of the music I listent to. It actually sounds better then many other configs I've listend to... But as I said, if you like "punch me in the gut" type bass 1x100 WRMS aint gonna cut it...
If your ever in the San-Fran bay area, your more then welcome to listen to it...
